I'm at 225K right now. I may add as much as 180K to that, over the next six years between me and retirement.

My seat has one little rip starting right there on the outside edge, where the most wear and tear happens. I've been weighing the ups and downs of seat covers vs. just buying a "new" seat from a junkyard, with 150,000 less miles of sweaty ass and French fry grease on it.

The cost is comparable. I'm thinking buy a new seat. What say you?? Will the seat ever "need" replacing, comfort wise?

I'm nowhere near you in terms of mileage. Gonna hit 50k tomorrow. But this is half the reason I installed a driver's side grab handle. I use it to keep from sliding off the side of the seat when I get out. That's where most of that wear comes from.

You might be able to find something for a decent price on car-part.

New seat foam and lower fabric/leather can be ordered up and installed in a couple of hours tops on a weekend. Having replaced the seat foam on a couple of vehicles now, I can say it is a night and day difference.

The grab handle is a good idea to add too.

You can get Katzkin or Clazzio leather. Or look for OEM seat covers from someone that has done the Katzkin leather. I have my seat covers put away, like 10k miles on them, when I switched over to leather.

I have the same tear on mine since 114k, it thankfully hasn't gotten worse and i'm at about 165k now. I would find an OEM cover and reskin the seat. I have a friend that gets in and out of his truck very frequently for work, he got some Carhartt seat covers that have a thick canvas material that have protected his seats very well.

You wouldn't have info on the source of that foam and fabric would you? I've stripped the driver's seat in my wife's Jeep down to its bones, so I'm semi-familiar with the process. I would consider it if the dollar amounts make sense.

I just ordered my seat foam from Sparks Toyota, OEM. There are plenty of sites that sell seat foam, some are precut and factory, others are DIY a little bit. I’ll gladly spend the extra few dollars for OEM to avoid me messing up cutting the foam.

as for the upholstery, I used Katzkin which was a complete set for the entire truck. But depending on the model/age of the Jeep you may be able to search for OEM still from a dealer or look at some other brands out there. The aftermarket for Jeeps is never ending, suspect you’ll be able to find something fairly easy.

Upholstery shops can also fix that bolster area for not a lot of money.

Last time i had to get it done, i think it was around $150. They matched the fabric perfectly.

I had not considered that! There's a good upholsterer near me, I'll get a price from them and throw it into my basket of possibilities.

Still hoping to hear from somebody with 300K+ miles. I'd love to know how the foam itself holds up. FWIW, my driver's seat doesn't feel much different than the passenger seat. I weigh about 190. I seem to recall the Million Mile Guy was heavier, and his seat went the distance.
