    Hi Everyone:

I wanted to apologize for being a bit sharp in my reply to Knabores and Medcitymoto. I was quite frustrated at the time. I have been reading this list for 6 months without joining and I have learned a ton from you all. I have been very short on time and I wanted to tell you all about the deal as qucikly as I could and was forced to do this endless authentication of clicking on cross walks and busses and motorcycles and it was blurry (frankly I probably could use glasses). After like 10 iterations of it I was about to quit and say f'it but I hung in there and got thru it all so I could tell you guys about it - only to then be treated like a crackpot and thus my frustration and over-reaction. Forgive me please.
I am so glad so many of you benefited from it. Thank you for all the PM's and thank you Strut_R for trusting and being the first to check it out and testify!
For what it is worth, I think the savings total between here and another list I told about it is like $30K. :) That means we should have a pretty good little community of Tundra peeps with Halo 11's, so I sure hope they are good. :) If they suck please blame Knabores!! :)
I work for a big retailer and we seed each of our stores with crazy good deals - why... to drive foot traffic to the store cuz we know people will buy something else too. I know some industry guys at BB and they have told me they do it too. I suspect we will also see other (perhaps not as good) deals like this happen again at different retailers.
Many of you have been kind and asked what you can do for me, and the answer is nothing, except please when the opportunity comes and you find a great deal come back here and let us all know. That would be wonderful!
Knabores and Medcitymoto, I was undeserving of such a nice and extremely funny apology - but thank you for being the bigger men!
Please post your pics and positives or negatives when you guys get them installed. I am so excited for mine.
    All the best
    BCD

And one neglected looking Sony at mine.

Whole 12v department looked tiny and sad. Sucks that car audio is going by the wayside due to lack of interest and difficulty of modifying newer cars/trucks.

It really is sad. I used to love going into my local audio shop when I first got my license and listen to all the good stuff. And then go over to JC Whitney and buy a bunch of Jensen and Pyle garbage…

I stretched myself to buy good gear BITD.
Alpine head unit (first cassette then CD), Alpine amps, MBQuart speakers, JL subs etc. I still have one of the subs and the MBQuarts in one of my trucks

Couldn't afford to pay someone to install it so I learned how to DIY. That lead in a roundabout way to the career I have had for the last 20+ years.

Unfortunately I just realized you can't run active crossovers (unless I'm missing something) from the head unit, so kind of bummed about that. Unfortunately my amp doesn't either, because it's an oldy but a goody.

Thank you for the SKU #. There wasn’t a single Alpine on display at the bestbuy over here in Colorado. But the guy was able to look it up and ship it to my door.

It does have crossovers, but it appears it doesn't have the ability to run 3 way active crossovers, like the Pioneer and Kenwoods. They both have the ability to run separate tweeters off the front channels, mids off the rear channels, and subs off the sub channel.
The Alpines look they only have high and low crossovers off the front and rear channels, plus sub.
I guess I'll just have to run passive or buy a separate electronic crossover. The ability run active is soooo nice, especially if tweeters are mounted far away from the mids. Which if you mount the tweeters in the dash or pillars in the Tundra, they will be.

Damn, upgrading the head unit all ready, huh?
When I was into car audio I would do things like that, haha.

Anybody know if there is a closeout price on the 9” model? The 11” is GTG in my Tundra but I think it would look comically oversized in my daily driver Tacoma.

Jumped on the bandwagon. Ordered at the store and will be delivered there on 8/18 for pick up. The lady in the store had to look it up since there was no signage or anything on display for the model. I didn't see any Alipine at all except one or two amplifiers on display. She was shocked at the price when it pulled up.

If I get back to the BBY I went to yesterday I can take a look, but I think I only saw a spot for the 11" model.

Question for you guys...so I just bought one of the Tesla style radios from another member that is being delivered today. Last night is when I discovered this amazing deal on the Alipine unit. Would the consensus be to install the Alpine over the Tesla radio? I know the Tesla radios take some tinkering with to get all the bugs out, but once dialed in I imagine the Alpine would still be a much better choice right? Stock JBL system right now. I do plan to upgrade all the speakers and do a new amplifier and sub box (maybe just a single 10") around the end of the year. The features I use the most are the FM stations, Sirius XM, and navigation. Love the look of the Telsa units, but I know the quality is not up to par with the Alpine in any way. Thoughts?

No experience with either head units, but do you like to tinker with things that can get ducky (Tesla) or set it and forget it (Alpine)?
