Possible to swap front bumper trim piece?

Hi guys,

I’ve searched but couldn’t find the answer. Is it possibly to swap color matched front bumper trim piece to black unpainted one, like you see on many tundras? Leaving fog light side trim painted white.

 

Easily accomplished, with the right tools, flexibility and some patience.

Pop the grille off, pop the lower grill retainer, under the visible 10mm screws and 1 pop clip attaching bumper to mount, undo the lower 10 mm nuts and attaching bolts to radiator core support, squeeze your hands up between bumper and crash bar undo the remaining 4 or 6, 10 mm nuts joining the center bumper section to outer bumper end caps. Swap and reverse the install process.

Uhh don’t have those. Thank you. So after more research it seems like I have 2 choices….one is to take the whole bumper off but have to get to those super tight 4 bolts and other option is to completely disassemble it by taking each piece of bumper piece by piece. Hmmm

 

What state are you from are you going to sale the center piece

 

It's black plastic, unpainted on my 2019 SR5.

We have since replaced it but I have the part and just checked it.

 

Have a black OEM center valence in my garage if anyone wants to negotiate or can't find one due to plastic resin shortages or similar.

 

I’m in north San Diego. I would prefer not deal with shipping, especially bigger part like that.

 

I would not take each piece off risking breaking tabs and scratching paint. Remove the 3 bolts on each side that holds bumper on (after disconnecting fog lights) and the job will be MUCH easier. Probably 15 minutes to get bumper off. Look at YouTube videos. Yes you need a helper for 5 minutes to help lift off, not heavy but awkward.

Yes like the post above would recommend removing the entire bumper in one piece. It weighs about 60lbs I’d guess. There are a few ways to do it. One of the easiest is to remove the main 8 horizontal bolts (4 per side) and the fog light connections and it’ll pop right off.

 

I swapped mine out. Yes, it was annoying but dropping the entire bumper was unnecessary and probably more annoying.

the same hidden bolts remain, if you’re scared of scratching the outer plastics, lay down some painters tape on the outer bumper caps.

really an easy job on the truck…i can do mine in about 10 minutes

I have the entire front bumper available. take off from my 21 limited with the black center valance

edit. I have the chrome end caps with white bumper shells installed and the stock led fog lights

Swapping the front is pretty easy and you can probably find one cheap that someone took off. The rear bumper is a bitch though.

 

Thank you for the offer. I don’t want to insult you with my price I’m willing to pay for just black plastic piece that I need. Unless you REALLY want to get rid of it lol. I believe some member said you can get them for around $80-$90 on eBay. That’s the route I was planning to take.

I would trade it. But mine is not in “immaculate” shape, got couple small rock chips and blemishes. I would rather deal locally, really don’t want to try to ship things.

 

I’m am located in Orange County. Can you take a couple snaps of the blemishes? Maybe worth the drive and trade

 

TRD Pros have this piece unpainted black. I initially grabbed one from a forum member to swap my color match Platinum one out. Never got around to doing it, as it seems like a bit of a PITA. That was three years ago.

 

I too have Tundra parts in my garage I never got around to installing.

 

I’m very certain that I want to install the at black center piece but not sure if I want to swap for another used one, as I can just order new one for $90 on eBay. I will keep you in the loop, on what I decide

I read that it gets shipped “folded” did yours come like that? If yes, did creases come out ok?

 

Consider whether or not you care about the one you order having front LP bracket holes.
