Had my 2023 1794 for exactly 2 months and 3,000 miles. A Pro became available, was able to buy it under sticker, and lost 300$ in the entire trade process. Fast turn around on a truck ever for me!

That’s what I set out for to begin with from moving from an GMC AT4, but they were hard to get, or people asking over sticker for them. This one came available at my dealer, and he gave me an assortment deal that I could refuse.

Glad you got what you were looking for. I just traded a sierra 1500 for a Platinum, so far Im really happy with it. The GMC was a solid truck with the exception of losing the transmission with under 70k miles.

    Badass truck.

I also think it would be cool to put 35’s and a mid-travel setup with Kings on a 1794

I wonder what the ride quality difference is? I myself ended up getting a pro as my second choice because it showed up first after an 8 month wait. Originally was looking for a blueprint 1794 hybrid.

Yeah, you’re going to have a cool perspective to share after you’ve driven this truck for a while. Can’t wait to hear of the ride/drive feel differences.

Awesome truck. Mildly lifted 3rd gens with some beefy tires looks great IMO. Why are they going so crazy with the tailgate badging?

You'll make out financially big time by getting in the Pro. I personally like the Platinum interior/ride quality much better and switched back to one 3 months after getting a Pro.

Agreed. Was likely a good move when considering resale value, but not necessarily a step forward for features and comfort. As long as you’re happy, it’s all that matters!

But, the new Pro tailgates are fugly!

I think they got it from RAM.

Our culture is all about signaling. Gone are the days of even somewhat discrete badging. We want people to know what we're driving from 200yd away. At least the chin tattoo "TUNDRA" on the front bumper is small.

    What GMC did you have?
Ive got 2 with the 6L80??

2015 Silverado, no warranty, and i replaced the torque converter at 90k miles, when it started acting funny, but before it took the tranny out with it.

We also have a 2018 Suburban, under warranty. Torque converter started acting funny, dealership said “no codes no problem””…it soon failed and took the tranny out with it, to the tune of $6k, 96k miles but still under warranty.

I think it looks fine as long as you do all black inserts instead of the black/red combo.

Ford does it too. But you’re right. Also doesn’t hurt that it’s easy free advertising. Lol.

Always goes to that. Funny. Yes, the Ram logo is big. This Ram smokes my Tundra but I’ll leave it at that. I just think the multi color logo is a bit much. But, just my opinion.

oh you want them to come up with more ways to increase that $6k number? Trust, they’re working on it.

Oh I'm sure it's more comfortable and has a neater looking interior. Probably is faster. Maybe better fuel economy. But in the races I care about (fewest repairs to 300k miles, no time spent out of service, most likely to get me back from no reception every single time, most allergic to dealer visits for any reason), the Tundra wins.:headbang:

I'll probably replace it with a 3rd gen in 10-12 years.

Yup, and nearly all of them are related to the garbage JMBX torque converter.

If you replace the converter when it starts acting up, it’s a $1600 repair.

If you wait until the converter fails, it will take the rest of the transmission out with it.

Never replace it with another OEM JMBX converter if it’s on your dime. Replace with a Sonnex or quality converter, typically with a billet cover, and this particular problem is eliminated.

Yes, the old hang on to reliability argument based on models of the past without actually knowing that the last 2 generations of Rams have been extremely reliable. The new Tundras seem to have some reliability issues. I guess under your mindset all Tundras are unreliable.
    :headbang:

Not maybe. I’m averaging 18 miles mixed with a naturally aspirated V8.
I think very similar to the turbos put in the third generation Tundra.

I agree. Just like saying since I don’t own a Tundra my Ram will be unreliable. My 2017 Tundra put me back to the shop a good amount. I still love Toyotas.
It doesn’t matter. I’ve found that if you own another brand and are critical to the Tundra you’ll be crucified. Although, it is a Toyota sight.
I merely said that the giant multi color badging on the tailgate is a bit much.

Disagree. Ram has the deepest discounts, most plentiful inventory on dealer lots, and the highest number of buybacks. Those tell a different story.

All I’m saying is your truck doesn’t smoke the Tundra if you care about a different set of parameters. Enjoy your Ram.

I’m not sure how those are relevant other than the buy back. I’d need to see proof to that but it shouldn’t be based on numbers since Ram outsells the Tundra by at least 5-1.
In either case, who cares. I like Tundras. Not a massive fan of the third gen. That is why I’m here. To keep up with how things are going so I can remain educated if I choose to move into another Tundra down the line.
I believe I can be critical of the new gen. There’s plenty to like but there’s alot things that to me makes no sense.
Everyone loves reliability. Me included. But, I tend to unload my vehicles around 100,000 so not as big a priority as someone who tries to go the distance.
Where it really irritates me is when inside that 100,000 I have a lot of issues. Like my 2017 Tundra. Constant alcohol density issues and a leaking cam tower.
I know the 2nd gens are really freaking reliable but to think because you drive a Toyota you’ll be trouble free is stretching it. But yes, the odds are in your favor.
