Reposting with video. What is this sound? I noticed it from inside the truck the other day, but I had my son film this drive in and it’s louder than I thought. No way this is a normal hybrid engine sound right? Taking it in next week, but would like to see if anyone else noticed or experienced this. My first hybrid, so if I’m being ignorant I’d like to hear that too.

When hybrids or electric cars are in drive or reverse they emit a noise (from a speaker of some kind) so they aren't silent and pedestrians can hear you. Recently got hybrid ford's at work and they do the same thing when running at slow speed on electric only.

Could be wrong, but that's what it sounded like to me. Try putting it in drive (noise) and park (no noise) with the windows down, see if it goes away.

Ok, I think you’re right! Just read in the manual about the Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System that adjusts according to speed and turns off when reaching 22mph. Feel much better now.

Or a way to alter it. Since this is a safety system to warn pedestrians, I’d like to change it to the Jaws theme tune

That’s an interesting thought. Maybe mine is just tuned too loud? I cancelled my appt, but on my next service I’ll ask about that.

Mine wasn’t as loud from inside the vehicle. I wonder if you did the same and had someone film you driving up, could it be as loud as mine?

Same here. My 1794 emits a slight electric sounding whine.
