That's awesome, thanks. I have nothing to compare it to, but holy fuck that's pricey. The heavy truck it's on that weights more than mine - is that yours? Stops pretty well, huh?

It'd prob eventually be worth the cost for me when I start making my (hopefully annual) trips to the mid west for hunting trips. I have 20" wheels - if these perform as well as your saying, are you aware of kits that work as well but aren't so expensive? I'll have to look into that.

This kit it on my old man’s rig. I’ve owned sports cars etc and we’re big on big brakes. The performance is wild. This is 6 piston, larger more dense rotors etc. The other kits out there are cheaper but again don’t offer a rear only the fronts.

Nice rig. Thanks for the info Rey. Appreciate it. Added BBK to the "eventually" list.

My 2 cents on 4.88 from my experience (YMMV)...not enough to restore power and prevent transmission "hunting". My Limited came with the tow package and has 4.88 gears from the factory. I upgraded tires to 35x12.5x17, and as you're describing, slight inclines will manifest "The Wild Hunt". :) This has accelerated my saving for 5.29's (and will do front and rear e-lockers while everything's torn apart, total will be about $8K :eek2:). Full disclosure, I have a winch on the front, and am "fully armored up" underneath.

    I hope this helps...

...the consensus, 5.29s or nothing! Thank you to all those with 4.88s to help the many make the "right" decision!

I was thinking 5.29 as well until I read others say they give high rpms at highway speeds. No? Also...I'm 99.9% sure the tow package doesn't give 4.88 gears. I've been wrong once before, but I think the tow package (which I have as well and this m'effer hunts all over the place on the highway) gets the 4.3's, and w/o tow package, 4.1.

You're correct, I misspoke...the 4.88's were a dealer add-on, separate from the tow package.

I think the 5.29s only raise your RPM at 80MPH like 500...but what you get is no hunting when using OD and towing you find less downshifting when it tries to think for you...I thought ALL 2/2.5 gens had 4.30 gearing as stock with no other options...regardless, one either bitches about irregular transmission shifting or MPGs...I'd rather feel confident about the drivability than worry about a truck getting less than a prius in MPG...:duh:

500 more at 80 doesn’t seem bad. No hunting while towing sounds great. I’ve read before but don’t remember the power band difference at lower speeds. Will have to refresh my memory before I pull the trigger.

I’m kind of going around in circles trying to decide what offset, front suspension to go with.

I’m leaning towards ADS 2.5 coil overs in the front, not sure for the back. And SPC uppers, BMC.

If I plan on going with a C4 Overland bumper, will that determine what offset wheel I should get? Looking at 0, +25, and +35. Wondering if one is better than the other for retaining the stock bumper.

Thanks for any help, I’ve been reading as much as I can, still learning.

ADS would be fine. I’ve got Toytec Aluma 2.5s and they have been awesome. SPC UCAs and a BMC. Shackles in the rear with RAS.

I kept my stock bumper for awhile before going with a C4 bumper. No ways around it, you will need to trim the stock bumper if you don’t put an aftermarket bumper on beforehand. That’s what I did…no worries.

As for offset, I think it’s best to stay around +18 or +25. Max out your caster with SPCs on the D setting and you will be doing great. You can go with 0 offset just need to get your caster maximized and go aggressive on the BMC.

All of this seems daunting in the beginning but at the end of the day, it’s quite easy to get your setup working well. Especially if you can do lots of the work yourself.

I have 37s, on method 701 +25 r18, 5.29 gears, c4 overland bumper and winch. Icon billet UCAs, ICON 3.0 CDCV RR and 2.5 omega bypass rear with RXT leafs option 3. Full armor, roof rack, bedrack, hardshell RTT, full size spare on willco hitch mount swing arm... My Tundra is Heavy. She loves the 5.29 gears and the tow haul ass with nannies off still spins the tires free... Just waiting on the ICON stage 3 S2 2.5 omega piggyback should ship in 5 weeks...

I like the Method 703’s but they come in +35 offset. Would +35 work?

Does that leave enough room to balance the wheels? Discount is complaining that the 17” wheels are tool small for our Tundra’s. Whatever Discount

I just drove my new 37’s from South Phoenix, AZ to Montrose, CO and have 5.29’s. I have no complaints, the new tires are awesome so far

This is how I stack the odds in my favor at Discount tire, they still get it wrong sometimes though. Old photo, ditched the tape/sharpie and used orange paint pen directly on all my wheels.

People look at us folks with big brakes like we are nuts, I had 12 pistons brakes on my old E39 and it was awesome.

btw, your dad bought a Roamer 1? how is it? it looks awesome on youtube.

They finally used it recently and they enjoy it. Dropped it off for a some updates and address some fitment items. A lot easier to setup than the turtle back. But now considering adding the new zr2 hd bison to the stable to tow it and keep the tundra for the shorter trips/offroading.

Oh no, fitment issues shouldn't exists on trailers that costs more than nice cars.

I guess all TT is the same, I like the ZR2HD bison, I hope its in red and your dad will swap it out to 37s.

I saw this and did it for a spare wheel I dropped off. Worked great, the tech even mentioned it when I picked the wheel up.

I’m liking this tire very much, but if they offered the ST Maxx in the same size, I probably would have opted for that tire. No complaints on the STT Pro though, just need to put it through it’s paces. I went through a few sets of BFG’s before I made the switch and will never look back.
