Our 2021 TRD Pro had no issue pulling the Airstream. The tires that came with our 2022 TRD Pro are garbage.

    Deciding between 295/70/18 vs 35/12.5/18.

Worried about rubbing with 35s. I have airbags.

    Lots of stuff!
Our 22' Airstream is going to be about 1,500 to 2,000 lbs lighter than the 27 footer. Our non-electric Tundra has more than enough power to pull either of these trailers so the Hybrid will be very nice power wise. We have 295/60/R20 E-rated tires and these didn't seem to make a difference. I just use the manual shift and put it into first gear if I start on a hill. Otherwise I use the tow mode and everything seems happy.

The challenge with the TRD Pro is the rear suspension for towing. I have read that it is saggy even with weight distribution applied. The suspension is designed more for offroading capabilities. This is not my personal experience (I don't have a PRO) but what I have read about how they sit with a trailer. There are some easy things to do to help prop up the rear like Timbrems or Airbags. This is to help support the heavy tongue weight of the 27' trailer (~1,000 lbs).

jnasty, let's see some pics of the setup!

I put on 35x11.50/18 and there is slight rub in reverse on mud flap(easily pinned back with wire tie), but my tires measure bigger at 34.8. I went with Load C tires to reduce weight, might not be the best for towing heavy loads, but I dont tow over 5k pounds currently, if that changes I might have to change tires to D or E load.

Are you looking for tires for a dedicated tow rig? Or to compliment your trucks intended use, off-roading?

If just towing, I’d probably go with Cooper AT3 XLT

I too am running the AT3's......very happy with handling and performance. Just be sure to run them max inflation when towing.

We are towing the northwoods artic fox 25W......dry weight 6800lbs. So add in another ~1500 for our gear and we are around 8500ish lbs. We have around 30k miles on this rig and the original gears seem to work out OK. When we get into the mountains of west Virginia on rt 77 I have to shift into 3rd and let it rev to make some of those grades but overall the tundra works out well. The only drawback on the tundra that I see is the wind pushing the trailer around. You really have to be on your game when the wind blows! That is because of the short wheel base of the tundra. Wish it was 3 ft longer wheel base. I have given much thought to extending the frame and putting an 8 ft box on that truck.

I just finished putting Bilstein shock on the front and back and also adding a rear torsion bar. Want to see if this makes pulling on a windy day more comfortable for the driver.

Always run your tires on both the truck and trailer at maximum pressure. Always know that trailer tires are only good for 5 YEARS MAX. and NEVER underinflate the trailer tires. Keep them at maximum pressure all the time. I learned this the hard way!
