I came in at 5,620lbs with just me and a half tank of gas. I have probably 300lbs of armor on my truck plus a camper shell.

I’m 5500 give or take when leaving the dump. I was a bit surprised by that. Kinda hurts my payload since GVWR is what, 6700? 6900?

I wonder how much Basil's truck weighs. He's got more shit on this thing than anyone I've seen. He recently boxed in the frame.

Went junkin’ this morning on the hunt for a Sequoia or DC floor console. All gray and really picked apart, so I passed. Did find this nice Patrick wheel though with a brand-ass new nice tire. Paid $50 for it, went down the road to a vato tire shop and told him I’d trade him the new tire if he’d mount and balance my brand-ass new KO2 on it. Deal. So now I can run a five tire rotation, just in time for my first rotation. Bonus was it had a nice center cap so I could upgrade one of my peeling ugly ones.
    IMG_9857.jpg
Then, once I was under the truck, I finished Ospho’ing (front; had already wire brushed everything and Ospho’d my rear end last weekend), rinsed the excess (it’s primer for the paint), and then painted. Here’s some pics of it reacting with the rust left over after vigorous wire brushing:

    IMG_9863.jpg IMG_9865.jpg

Laid down a nice coat of Rustoleum flat black primer and paint two-in-one on the rear axle and parts of the front axle and suspension. Really happy with how it turned out. Will try to get some pics.

Also greased all zerks except for transfer case.

I think mine is the same way. Are you saying if you dont hold the key to start long enough and it doesnt start then you have to give it a minute and try again? Mine seemed to do it here and there and itd be rough starting it after that.

I also started holding the key longer and it hasnt happened again, so maybe user error all those times, LOL

Yes, exactly that. If I don't turn the key long enough and it fails to roll over, and then immediately try again, she gets angry. Definitely user error on my part. The later 1st gens bump start according to members here.

My 2000 weighed in at 4840 with my toolbox in the back at the local dump. Since they take money based on weight, they have to keep the scales certified, so it's prolly pretty accurate. My truck takes 21 gallons wen empty, 24 gallons when reeeeeeeaaaaaaalllllly empty. I've coasted into the gas station twice now engine dead and put in 25 and change.

Nope, me too. Audio isn't there. Imgur makes you select whether to import audio when you drag a video in, I'm guessing he didn't.

I'm curious now, wondering if @danb is worried his flex plate may be cracked ala reply #10 in this thread .... https://www.tundras.com/threads/2005-tundra-with-engine-rattle.101270/

Mine will sometimes start to catch and I let go of the key too early which makes it snort to life and immediately die. I have to turn the key off and then back on to start it then or I get a really long crank like the fuel pump isn’t pumping after the truck dies. Bump start is nice. Wonder what has to be changed in order to have that feature on an older truck. I’m guessing ECU

I mean, a lot of dudes on here have similar ticking. I've got it too. At first I thought it was lifter rattle. Then I was told it was injectors. If you're really worried it was the flex plate, I mean, pretty sure the 2UZ have an inspection cover you could pop off to check, may need a borescope to see toward the center but ...

Nah man I mean if its a standard tick these trucks have, I'm not worried. I got a list of things I need to look into and the tick was on that list. Thanks

Doesn't sound too bad to me. All engines have their own noises. You should hear an LS1 with piston slap if you want to hear something alarming, yet quite common and usually harmless.

Oh, I've swapped my fair share of GenIII engines into stuff, you'll find at least one of my fun adventures on LS1tech. I know exactly what you mean.

We were all joking on here not long ago, I mentioned how it's fitting Toyota used to make sewing machines because the 2UZ has a similar rhythmic tick. I'm sure it's just a coincidence but ... :D

Same handle with the tick. I actually remember checking out your thread bitd, mine's almost 15yrs 20yrs old at this point. Was my 1st GenIII swap and led to a number of other swaps, later helping out friends and others I met online and at meets with theirs. We did a LOT of p-cars in my small circle of ATL friends who've since left town. The Renegade kits made things really easy.

According to owners manual, starting in 03 they refer to that feature as Starter Hold System and in 04 they changed the wording to Cranking Hold Function.

After years of running the wrong universal green stuff that was in my 2000 when I got it in 2005, I finally got around to flushing it all out with gallons and gallons of water followed by 5 gals of distilled water and then filled it with correct pink antifreeze. Old coolant was maybe two yeats old and changed last when I replaced the radiation so it was clean and no rust or particles. Block drains opened easily and appear to be tapered 10mm M6 hollow brass bolts inserted into a flange with a thin pipe on the side. Really only dribble out coolant. Prolly universal stuff was OK but I feel better having the correct coolant in both my Tundras now.
