We can def talk about that more when the time comes…but first let me see if I even decide to buy this one lmao! Can’t make any promises tho tbh with me knowing I would use it.

I will say though, no offense to @Tundra1986 if we did make a deal the first thing to go would be that army star lollll  there’s more reason than one why I can’t be seen driving around with that on.

Been under the truck checking things out. My brakes suck. I suspect air in the lines (easy fix), noticed my backing plates on my rear drums are rusty (1 side has chunks missing), so I'll be doing that too.

Took some pictures of my lower ball joints. They look like they've been on the truck a while. Think it's time to replace?

Have you jacked up each front wheel and done a basic test of the balljoints, tie rods? (more on that in vid below)

RE: Brakes, I feel like 75% of complaints come from one of two places: (1) earlier-year trucks that aren't using the newer-style WL calipers your truck should have or (2) Double Cab owners who are unfortunate enough to have VSC (here's what to look for). Do you happen to have VSC?

If you're not clear on what to check for, this video should help:

Just checked, I do not have VSC.

I have jacked the truck up and checked. Both wheels have zero movement up and down. Passenger wheel has no movement left to right. Driver side has very slight movement, but I think I might be moving the steering (the tie rod moves with the wheel).

That's a whole whole lot of work to get to those backing plates. Have to pull the axles out and press out the bearings to replace. Leave em be if they aren't causing you issues.

Have you put your VIN in Toyota's website to see what service history it might have? If those ball joints are original at 200k miles they are long overdue. They don't typically give much warning before they fail.

Didn't realize Toyota made service histories available. Just checked and went through all the service history. No mention of lower ball joints anywhere, so I will assume they are original and way overdue for replacement. Thanks.

There was actually a recall. Did you check at the Toyota Owners website to confirm there are no open recalls on your truck?

I did. No open recalls, but I found it odd it wasn't in the service history anywhere. I guess I can check to see when the recall was issued and check to see what my truck's mileage was at that time and estimate the LBJ's mileage from that.

Looks like the recall went out in January of 2007. My truck visited the dealership for servicing in February of 2007. I bet that was for the recall. Had 20k miles at that point. I bet they are overdue for replacement.

Mine is pretty short too, and it's non-descript. Check bottom entry here. "Steer/susp recall" is all it shows. One above that "SSC E04" is the Takata airbag recall. Other two are when I had the dealership run full diagnostics on the truck after the OEM alternator unexpectedly shorted caught fire. Original owner of the truck used a nearby jiffy lube type shop for nearly everything on the truck.

Mine is even less descript. Carfax shows numerous times it was services at a Toyota dealership that aren't on the Toyota report. Some on the Carfax say what happened like differential fluid was changed, or spark plugs, but a lot of times it just says "vehicle serviced". No where on either report is "SSC E04" mentioned or the word "recall", so I think I really have to assume it was done at 20k miles (that record just says "vehicle serviced", but was at a Toyota dealership a month after the recall letter) but the other checkins around that time were at Sears Automotive.

The Carfax had 14 pages of maintainable on it, most of it was from Dealerships.

Oddly, I mentioned I thought the brakes were soft, apparently the original owner did as well, 50k miles ago. Dealership didn't find anything wrong.
