I’ve always been a Russell’s Reserve fan and this Single Rickhouse doesn’t disappoint.

I've always liked Oban; their 14 year single malt is nice and smooth...

Those are from 2 different regions, so you'll definitely have different profiles if you're comparing them.

I found top recommendations at different price ranges. My experiment is to see if my unsophisticated palate can differentiate.

The Ardbeg came across with a prominent peat and smoke. The other tasting notes from the Ardbeg review were lost on me. With the Oban there was more citrus and fruit present for certain.

    Both were enjoyable.

Now you should find a couple other from each region (islay) and (west highland) and compare them to these 2; you may find that you prefer islay over highlands or vice versa... and then expand to sampling the other regions as well  My regional preferences were usually Highland and Speyside...

Was going to crack open the increasingly rare beer tonight (been very fond of the Carlsbad Elephant lately) but the wife wanted to open a bottle so we shared.

We do have a bit of a wine collection too, but nothing too fancy. I've had the 2015, 2016, and 2018 vintages of this one and the 2016 is by far my favorite.

I'm on Vivino with over 170 wines rated if anyone else gets into grape juice...

I enjoy wine. I collect all the finest Kirkland vintages!

I don't usually do wine, but I picked up a bottle of this on our last trip to Cottonwood/Jerome. It's sitting in my garage fridge, I might open it next weekend.

The best wines are often the ones you bring home from trips. Curious to hear what you think when you try it.

Haven't tried it, but if I see it I'll pick it up. There are so many thousands of options.

I have 16 Argentinian Malbecs rated, these are my two top rated offerings..

Malbec and Pinot Noir are my go to reds. Kidding aside, Costco has great prices. Picked these up last week.

My shitty state doesn't let Coatco carry wine and liquor. I saw a Reddit post today where a Costco had Pappy 10 year for $81.

I feel your pain. OK just allowed non liquor stores to sell wine and strong beer (3.2+) in 2016 but they still can't sell spirits. There are currently bills pending to change that. :fingerscrossed:

My collection is growing. Big fan of the Wellers! I'm hoping I can find a cheap bottle of the 107 at my local liquor store (they have it for MSRP occasionally).

The Sazerac is alright, but I think I'm just not really a Rye Gye.

Agree on ryes, have tried several just not my thing. That Wellers SR was fair probably wouldn't buy it again unless I found it for around 40. The 107 so far has been my favorite even over the Full Proof, interestingly it didn't get better being open. The first half of the bottle was great but about half empty it developed a grassy flavor that I am not a fan of, I managed to fight through it and finish her off though.

This is one of our favorites as well. Bang for buck, it is hard to beat.

The first one is probably our go to red, we also like Portuguese greens.
