    Question:
When you take your foot off the accelerator and the car starts to brake on its own (without touching the brake pedal), do the brake lights come on? Or only when you touch the brake pedal?

I plan to work until I'm dead. I was out of the loop on any kind of retirement fund for way too long, and I spend what I make to enjoy life today. Never sure I'll have a tomorrow to spend it, so I don't suffer today in hopes that I'll have money when I'm too old to enjoy it.

My company matches 50% up to 6%. The ESPP used to be where you made the money. It was 15% below the lowest purchase price during the 6mo cycle meaning if it was $136 at purchase time but had been $100, you got it at $85. Easy money. Now it's just 15% off current value which is still good, but more subjective to fluctuations.

When you take your foot off the accelerator or use the brake pedal. You can see it on the screen too, if you were to zoom in on the car

    That's awesome....

A lot of folks struggle w/pulling that much out of their usable income to stash away, but I used to tell the younger guys (and gals of course), to start w/a couple hundred a month and then at least 50% additional of raises each year and pretty soon you're maxed out and not missing the money.

The other bit of advice I'd give to newer folks is to use OT and call-out for fun stuff and projects (not their main budget); 50% of any OT, etc... goes into an account to be used for fun: Travel, expensive dining, splurge purchases, truck parts, etc... the other 50% goes into an account for projects (home repairs, down payment on new house, etc...

When you work a bunch of extra hours, the extra money is always nice; but there has to be something on the other end that relaxes the stress and frustrations of working extra or you can get burned out quickly and be freakin' miserable..

I've wondered the same thing about adaptive cruise...

The whole braking just by removing my foot from the gas pedal is one of the reasons I can't do electric; it makes me feel like I'm 6 driving an autobahn car at disneyland minus the stupid raised rail thing in the middle that would only let you turn so far :frusty:

Adaptive cruise only applies brakes if the car is not slowing quickly enough without throttle to maintain following distance. At least that is how the Subaru is.

It feels the same as the wife's subi...

You can definitely feel a difference between the car letting up on the throttle and the sudden braking action. To me it seems like instead of softly applying the brakes when necessary, it almost waits a little too long and then stomps on them to maintain the distance (not as smooth as it could be)... but, that got me to wondering if the brake lights come on when the brakes get applied (I"d assume they do) :notsure:

    This makes me laugh ,,,,

Driving "Large Car's" for a living and having folks get all "Pissy" when I only use the Jake brake to slow down has seen many a car "Dive to the left

    or right " :devil::devil:

WHY anyone with half a brain would tailgate either a Dump Bucket or Equipment trailer always fascinated me BUT to then call into the DOT or our

Office to complain makes me :rofl:..... and I have been told by dispatch to pull over after slowing for an EZ Pass lane because some lady

almost rear ended me  :D ; she was not impressed by the DOT officer citing her for speeding in a Toll Lane once we checked and found my brake

    lights worked.. :fistbump:

When the Taco was reframed and Yota gave me a Prius for the extended "Visit" , those hybrid downshifts DO NOT apply Brake lights :notsure::notsure:

The Rav4 has that "Newer" cruise and no brake lights come on when I approach a

    slower vehicle .....

No. It’s very smooth braking. It’s not what you think

The subi has a car on the cluster in cruise and the brake lights show on that when its applying brakes so I assume if I see them there anyone behind me gets em too.

1st time we hit a traffic jam I hovered over thr brake and watched what it did. It took the car to a complete stop and heald the 3 second distance (no idea how it calculated that at full stop) even though cruise was set at 80. The downside...if the car in front of me crept forward, I got aggressive throttle followed by aggressive brake.

Do you have to hold it for a while?

I was at a company that offered ESPP at a 25% discount. You could purchase up to your take home pay and sell immediately. That didn't last long, but it was good while it did.

At a different company I was in a 30% bonus plan and also granted a few hundred option stocks each year. Initially there was a holding period for the stocks, but the law changed such that you could sell immediately, so that was instant bonus at whatever the share price was, usually between 70 and 80.

Love it. We had 2009 Arctic Fox for years and back then Nash was more of an entry level product from Northwood. The Nash now feels like the AF we had before. And the AF’s now are super nice.

Don't be such a negative Nancy dude, you're not going to work till your dead. Throw a $100 a month into a Vanguard retirement account, you won't even notice it. Your 65 y/o self will thank you. :)
    Great advice!
