Veepeak Bluetooth adapter and ODB Fusion app.

 

Cool. So many of them on Amazon.ca with different prices, higher the price the better? And they all work in any vehicle?

 

Not all are the same. Some are more generic to work with any app, some are intended to be used with the manufacturers app. But the Bluetooth reader is easy - getting the app setup and working takes a bit of time.

 

Finally ordered the 400W anytime harness today. We will see if I get a chance to install on the weekend, but if I do Ill try to remember to get a few pics to show.

I went the Guild Outfitters route, as the link to other one (KTJO) seemed to no longer work, and I didnt find the harness on their website. FWIW

That's impressive only 4 minutes into the trip!

 

Just a campground east of Calgary close to Brooks.

 

I reset the app a few minutes before to make sure it was collecting the right data.

It was a hot ambient temp, air conditioning running and the winds were strong. Absolutely the highest temps I have seen on the truck. Still technically within the OK range according to Toyota - just at the very high end.

I just swapped the oil earlier this week and put in the Kirkland/Costco synthetic. I do think it runs a few degrees hotter on it vs Mobil1 but this last trip probably wasn't an apples to apples comparison.

Are you running an aftermarket cooler for the transmission? I've noticed the truck runs slightly cooler with 5w-30 in summer.

No just the OEM one. The 18 was the last year. Frankly I think it runs too hot but Toyota engineers are smarter than I am.

All joking aside, I love our province despite the the violence you hear about on the news. Plus, it gives me job security.

Luckily, the mosquitos (at least in the city and surround area) have been non existent the past few years. I haven't even seen one this year.

This pic was from camping a couple years ago. It's no Jasper or Lake Louise, but we weren't stepping over people in the trails and there were no busloads of tourists around. I did a few trail runs around it with the dog over the course of the week and we only ran into 2-3 groups of other hikers.

I love it! Once it's just me and my wife camping, I'm hoping to get a setup for my trailer. I have a few vintage tables and speakers in the basement awaiting a project like this.
