Looking at purchasing a Tundra. I found a one owner 2016 SR5 with 102788 miles. The carfax shows the truck was serviced every 5,000 miles at the same dealership until it was traded in. I'm wondering what would be a decent price for a truck like this? Thanks for any insight.

Location matters. Where is the truck and is it rust free? Assuming excellent condition and rust free I’d think around $28-30k would be fair value. Pretty good value retention considering it was a $36-40k truck new.

All the service records indicate it spent its life in Southern California. It is now for sale in AZ.

Double cab or crew max? Here in the Carolina’s that’s at least a $35k truck… I just bought my first tundra 2 weeks ago after months of searching and the prices around here are out of this world.

Good point. I had assumed CrewMax. I’d go around @SR5The3RD’s value for a DblCab.

Looks like I'll be taking my truck to NC to sell it.

In NC that'd sell for 33k-35k all day and twice on Sunday. 100 feet across the border in SC it'd sell for 27k-29k. Main reason why I've made a point to buy any of my vehicles in SC.

There are a few theories but I can't really seem to find any direct causes.
I know insurance is more expensive in SC vs NC, but of course that also depends on the vehicle and the driver. Sales tax in SC is also capped to $300, versus the straight percentage in NC.

Sales taxes are calculated by where you register the vehicle though, not where you buy it, hmm.

That's true, so I don't know what makes it the way it is. Unless being in the top 10 most expensive states for insurance has some sort of an effect?
