i got a 54" ztr cutting my 2.5 acre lot. so it takes about an hour to cut it all. about 15-30 mins to edge/trim the yard. depends if i do the trees and pond and all. but doing the yard and washing vehicles is my "me time" that my wife lets me do when i need to relieve stress or anything. seeing something go from shabby/dirty to neat/clean is refreshing to me. put on some tunes and go at it....thats some good stuff. almost as good as the cold beer when i'm done.:cheers:

Not bad on your time cutting. I bought a JD zero turn 54" last year and it is much faster and a lot more fun vs. my old 50" garden tractor. I'm learning to drink and mow now, so makes the job even more enjoyable! I try to keep my Tundra in the garage and only drive occasionally as that sucker is a 1/2 day job to wash. I drive a '98 Taco daily, so it's much easier on my old body parts.

Many Thanks! I'm kinda anal so I spend too much time on stuff most people don't care about...especially two and three years olds!

Tall Fescue here in Tennessee. We haven't had rain in almost two weeks so I've been having to water every other day.

The Centipede just doesn't seem to be creeping like I expected. I did miss weed and feed in the spring. Gotta touch up the mulch.
Not sure I'm good on the level of the mower deck. Seems a bit of a dip on the lhs.

Looks pretty good to me! Just hit those sidewalks with a pressure washer and it will make your grass look even better..

I just surpassed the weeds to grass ratio recently. Now my weeds are the minority in my yard by a slim margin

That's how my yard was when we bought the house in May of 2021. Literally all weeds.

By September I killed it and started over. I had a friend help me make this redneck daisy chain for irrigation. It worked.

Then in June of 2022 we got a record heat wave and I was in Spain. My new grass got wrecked. It's just now recovering. The front yard still has some places you can't see in my last picture that haven't grown back. Hopefully by this fall.

Sucks to put that work into it and lose it!
My front yard is about 200'x150' since I'm on 2.5 acres. I'd love to redo my whole yard, or even just my front yard, but that'd be a HUGE undertaking. Most of the spots that are overtaken with weeds are where the dirt was brought in to build my house pad. It's come a long way, but I'm still fighting a little bit of stuff. Maybe one day when we get old and buy a smaller house n yard I'll be able to keep it up. But that'll be another 25-30 years from now:oops:

Not using my time to mow. We get it all mowed (once this year so far) in half a tank on our 20” pusher. We love color and my wife has the greenest thumb you can find…

stricly rain and cutting tall routine. this was cut at 4". i have a schnauzer, but he doesn't leave any marks or dead spots (prob cuz he's only about 30 lbs-so small piles and pee spots)
i also try to cut every 5 days to keep within the 1/3 rule. but i picked this up from 3-3/4" to 4" 5 days later and I was still taking some off.
during other times of the year, i don't have to cut near as often due to cold or heat.
now the front yard, i've been putting a little bit of Scott's weed n feed down, but that's only 2-4 times a year max. my front yard is over 10k sqft, so it gets to be a lot. my whole lot is just over 2.5 acres, so fertilizing it all would be a hell of an endeavor between time and money.

Mine is pretty green but I have to stay on it. We had three dogs, now two (one is 8lbs other is mid 50lbs). I trim/mow 2x a week. Think that is too much in 90* temps in the summer? I use the B-Hyve Orbit water system so it does the sprinklers based on moisture as it sees fit.
I try to fertilize anytime we know it will be 70* or less and with rain coming.

seems like a lot, but it depends on how fast your grass is growing. i'm also assuming you have st augustine as well. i personally would say 2x's a week is too much, but only cuz i've tried and the results weren't as good. it seemed keeping to every 4 or 5 days worked better for me. other than that, it's back to once a week when it slows down.

It came with Kentucky Blue Grass. We had a lot of rain day, after day, after day for a while. I’ll try going back to mowing 1x a week to see if it improves more. Thank you!

I've got a 54" ztr, so it takes me about an hour +/-, depending on the way i cut (north/south, east/west, 45 angle one way/other way, or circular)

Not 100% sure, but it's probably fungus. I'm having that problem right now and it loves heat and humidity...

Thanks, it's Slime Mold. I've been watering the front yard during a dry spell we've been having locally but the last week we've been dumped on. Looks like grass has recovered well. What's your location @Badknees ?

I'm in Anderson. Good to know you found the problem. I have fescue, so fungus is always an issue on my lawn this time of year....Just have to make it until late September when I can over-seed again.

Hey Neighbor. I'm in Due West... :hattip:

Clemson Extension website said it's normal, when I was watering it did pool up there a bit. They said it should be gone in a couple of weeks and they wus right. The good soaking we've been getting last couple of days has really helped.
