I'm a first-time Tundra owner. I got off to a bad start as all the safety 'features' got in the way of me doing any real work. I've figured out how to shut some of that down now, but as I was driving one day I said to myself, "they should have a feature where you can say "Hey Toyota, put it in Truck mode." When I said "Hey Toyota," the truck 'woke up' and asked what I wanted to do. I said "put it in truck mode" but that of course did not work.

Since then, I've tried a bunch of commands, and it doesn't seem to understand anything.

Does anyone else use this feature? If so, what for?

I haven't gotten it to do anything, whether it's a phone call or change the radio. It sure does like to come on at absolutely random times though.

I would rather disable the useless "feature"

Works well for me. I use it almost exclusive for NAV and audio controls.

I tried mine on the way home with the truck night I purchased it. I asked it to go to specific radio stations and it did no issues.

Mine came on when I was driving my brother in law around and he said “I hate Toyota”. That made me giggle.

    Nitrogen filled tires!
Mine took me somewhere I did not want to go and never asked for. Now I just tell it to STFU and let me do the driving.

I had mine give directions to nearest restaurant while on vacation. Works very well. Gives weather data though no radar maps.

Great on trips while driving. Find a rest area a specific hotel or whatever without hunt and peck in motion.
It does take a moment to get up the learning curve but there are lots of YouTube’s that can fast forward a user through it.

Or you can touch the TFT or the passenger (they have their own mic) can use voice activated and not have to touch anything. Optionality.

I use CarPlay as well, Google maps for Navi, so that is not interesting to me. I thought there might be some way to control more of the car, e.g. "close all the windows" or "set the temperature to 60 degrees."

Every time I (or wife) have tried this, i get “that feature is not available”. Seems for safety sake that should be a biggie vs looking over and down to find a button to press.

Wish ppl could make a follow up video to that Toyota marketing guy who just raved about the new infotainment system by Toyota and how they do things differently that are better.

Take a poll guarantee majority of users are not using Toyota and using carplay or aa.

Car mfg need to stop spending millions developing their own infotainment system and just adopt carplay and aa.

It will be cheaper, Toyota does not need to offer head unit for 3 systems

I wasnt given 30 seconds of training on using this voice control system when I picked up my truck so I went searching on YT and found this guys video.
Way more control options than I've found listed anywhere else. Worth Watching

That's the same video I watched and I've been off to the races since then. I was driving around Manhattan and CT last week and it was spot of for directions, finding hotels, changing stations and so on. I'm either getting better with it or it's recognizing my voice better.

I was happy to learn I didnt have to wait to ask my question until it asked me what I want. Time saver for sure. I use Siri more often but this works well too ( until the free 1 yr NAV trial ends )
