You really want to do all this to look at it for a week, then get bored of it, deem it useless or outright distracting, and turn it off?
    :p
...who else does NOT use it, even if they have it, aside from me?

Ha, so I came across this thread and im sitting in my truck right now and decided to see if I even had the option. Had the truck for a few weeks now and didn't even care to figure out how to turn it on. Turns out I don't have it on my 23' 1794.

IMO the novelty of it wears off quickly.

    ya, I get that.

that said, the advance package is a really good value I thought with all the goodies you get, the AVS is awesome IMO and LOVE the power running boards and bed step

The way the packages/trims prevent the customer from being able to spec out a truck, and how the allocation makes you not be able to actually order anything you build on the Toyota website is absurd.

This is one of the features I find interesting, but it's only available if you don't get the TRD Off Road Package, which was a must have for me.

    true that,

my dealer got me exactly what I wanted in the allocation.

They also were able to tweak the build for the 2023 25th Anniversary AWD Sienna we bought at the same time, they logged in to the allocation and took off the tow package, so I was able to "kinda build" what I wanted.

but ya, no custom orders like my Ram where I sat down and check every single box I wanted and they built it.

This is also part of the reason Toyota has better build quality from the toyota production system.

The truck I should have any day had options changed by the dealer to match what I wanted, but I had to wait a really long time for a truck to be close enough in the allocation process for this to work.

Maybe I’m just too picky, but I find it to be silly that you can’t just give a build directly from the website to the dealer and get it built.

I supposed thread drift is ok since I started this one.

I really like my HUD tbh. I do not find it distracting at all. It just allows me to look down less when looking at speed/directions, etc.

This is a bummer to read. Denied on power step and now HUD.

Ahhhhhh well... I didn't have either of them on previous vehicles so I guess I won't miss them now.

You can wire in the power steps now, someone figured it out if your ok tapping into the wiring harness. Bed step so I'm sure it can be done for all steps.

I have the oem steps. I want to figure out how to cleanly wire In puddle lights for them. I love this truck, but it needs some exterior lights.

Trying to add missing features is crazy expensive. I was not happy when my truck arrived without the panoramic electronic mirror. Almost $3K to add it afterwards (just in parts) - ridiculous!

On the Ford forum people are adding adptive cruise control. Radar, harness, then copy the hex code from another one that had factory adaptive cruise. Months and $$$ but the guy made it work but others were not so lucky.

I've got a decent understanding of how their CAN bus works. They are absolutely playing with fire. It would be easy to brick the truck.
Their adaptive cruise isn't even a good implementation.

It's happened to a couple and had to take to the dealer to refresh the as built hex code. I made a couple of changes on my past f150-temp above gauges and Bambi mode(driving lamps on with high beams) but made sure to copy the original file that's only 73kb in size.

He is mistaken, it's not a panoramic electronic mirror, it's the digital mirror that comes with a package that includes the SPA (Straight Path Assist). The panoramic cameras are grill, tailgate, and the 2 mirrors.

Sorry. Wrong choice of words using Panoramic. I have the Panoramic camera package. Just not the digital rear view mirror that I wanted for my wife’s comfort with increased visibility driving a big truck. I thought that was in with the pano camera package and not the Trailer Straight Path. (Which I’d never use)

Looks like this thread got way off topic, but I've wondered the same thing, and looking at the part info, it shows it fits just about everything but not sure if it requires a different dash panel on the topside to install? I think this would be a nice option to have, the whole point is keeping your eyes up and on the road which is much safer. Does anyone know of a service manual or something that might show how the components are installed if nobody has attempted it yet?

It doesn't look like my dash has the spot to hold that so I would assume you'd need a new dash.

Yep I would say so, but checking some reviews, I think I found a much better option for about half the cost, this unit even has a thermal IR camera option, and its pretty much a universal fit: https://store.hudway.co/drive Only problem is looks like not available until March '24

unless the vehicle came with a hud, going thru oem parts is going to be about $2.5k + in parts not including labor (unless you do it yourself)

This is why I abandoned the idea.

Yep that's probably a good guess, there are plenty of aftermarket HUDs that just stick on your dash for $300 or less, and I like the idea of adding a thermal camera for deer at night. I already hit a turkey, did quite a bit of damage to the lower plastic panels/mounts up front, so I'm thinking of adding a winch front bumper to armor up front or a HUD or both at this point. Even if I add both, that's still cheap insurance for a $71K truck.
