Michelin defender LTX ms2

I'm thinking of getting these in 275/55/20 or 275/60/20 for my truck soon. Any experience with these? I'm not looking for ATs and am pretty set on the defenders. Everything I read is they ride great, last forever, give good MPG, and are just all around great. I'm having a hard time finding a deal so if anyone knows of one let me know. Thanks.

It generally will cost you zero shipping and roughly $100 to mount and balance 4 tires. I've noticed that most tires have free road hazard warranties included with the purchase; this is something most retail stores charge extra for and is included by tire easy. The Michelin Defender is the longest lasting tire I've ever owned.

 

For what it's worth ..the Defender is most likely the highest rated street/all season truck tire period. If you drive on highway a lot these are the way to go. A co-worker drives 100 mile round trip everyday. Puts 60,000+ miles on them easily.

 

Repeat buyer here too...I run Michelin 285/60/20's with TT Boss 3/1 on my keepin it stock looking Platinum...great ride, zero noise, great long mileage tire. Discount tire- Prorated my last set, I paid for (3) new, they made it right and essentially included the 4th based on my prorate. Yep, I like these tires- $290-300 a tire.

Can't recommend the Defenders enough. I've got 295/70/18 on my Tundra. Ran the previous versions on my Troopers exclusively. 50K tires and I got 60-70K on every set I owned. 400K+ on the two combined, so I had a few sets. We just put them on my wife's Grand Marquis, the P sizes have a 90K warranty.

 

Also, you need to check out a lot of places for price. For my truck, Walmart had them for $250 each, free shipping to store when everyone else was in the $300 range. For my wife's car, Sears had them installed for less than anywhere else had them for the tires only.

 

I've found that TireBuyer.com is cheaper or the same price as all the online stores I've looked at. Most the time with free shipping or promotions too. Bought 2 sets of tire from them over the years and looking to buy a 3rd.

 

I use my local Discount tire and their repair or replace insurance and life time balance and rotation is hard to beat. I pay a little extra for road hazard, but don't mind for this piece of mind coverage. If they can't repair it, they replace it. And at $300 a pop "pun intended" for these tires I think it's worth it. The larger 285/60/20's are a little more $$$. I still got a $70 rebate Visa card from Michelin which was pretty cool.

 

Not yet. I'm keeping an eye on local and interweb sales. Hopefully I'll find a deal soon, would like to get them before the winter.

Does this price also include the cost of swapping out your old tires and mounting and balancing the new set? ...and does it include DCT lifetime balance and rotation and the road hazard insurance?

Admittedly, I like the local DCT policy of anytime road force balance and especailly the road hazard insurance, if they can't repair the damaged tire then on goes a new one.

 

This forum makes me feel like I've been asleep my whole driving life and never knew anything about, well anything.

Saving this for when I need new tires!

I just had a set of 275/55/R20s installed at Costco yesterday for $841.00 all in, including road hazard. They were offering $70 off of Michelin tires, but I think the sale ended yesterday. So far the ride is great.

 

Those are 275/55/20, those are the stock size which are 32". I went a size up to 33". Which usually costs about $30-40 more per tire

 

Just had a set of m/s installed on the wife's Highlander with the current Toyota promotion of buy 3 and get 1 for $1. Set of 4 for $703 before mount & balance. They do drive quite nice.

Pretty much the look that I want to go for . . . interested to see how that tire width looks from the front . . . any pics?

 

Would never have guessed we would have this many members seeking out a HT . In all seriousness, it's probably what I should run, but I don't like how they look vs an AT.

Fits good. I've heard a rub three times, all in reverse and couldn't duplicate. Also no visible signs.

 

I can't wait til Friday. They should be here then. Maybe I'll have time to get them mounted.

 

I hear ya man. I've had bfg at ko's, revo2's and dynapro atm's on my tacoma. They all looked good. But all performed marginally. Especially considering i drive 99% on road, like most people do. I wanted a tire that would last, wear evenly, give good mpg, and be safe and perform in all weather conditions. These are tire for that job here in New England. My only other option was 2 sets of tires and wheels, one winter, one summer. That's too pricy for me.
I'm over buying tires for the "look" i want quality.

 

It's alway a good idea to get tires for your need not looks.

 

I'm fortunate in that the 1% offroad for me is sand, and these are some of the best performing sand tires I've ever found.

 

The LTXs are truly one of the best tires made. You will get a lot miles on them for sure imho.

 

From what I've read and seen from these tires.....They are a wolf in sheep's clothing.
