Resistors

What's the general consensus on installing resistors for your led turn signal upgrade. Also would that be the only bulbs that need that. Reverse and parking should not need anything right. Just plan on changing all bulbs out. Thanks

 

Dont use resistors for your blinkers. If you can get a led flasher use that. You will thank me later you did it.

 

They make signal flashers for that these days, might be less hassle. Pull, plug in and done.

 

Ok, thanks guys. Seems resistors can put off some heat. Hopefully I can switch out flasher with led.

 

I have heard reports of a few burn wires to small fires with resistors.

 

Yeah that's not good. I just read another article about led flashers, and unfortunately they don't have them for 2nd generation. there's a diy mod on the factory flasher about grinding down the loop, haha, on the flasher. I don't think so. So guess I will leave turn signals as is and change out back- up lights. Gonna research some more.

 

That very strange that aftermarket hasnt pick it up unless there is some kind on patent thing going on with the unit.

 

I just emailed Diode Dynamics, they have a big selection of Led Flashers. Hopefully they have one with my name on it. Thanks for your help

No led flasher for 2nd generation Tundra. I talked to support over at Vleds and they actually have a kit that's plug n play. It's pricey, but no splicing or pulling oem flashers out. At least we have options. They supposedly have the brightest leds on the market. I'm gonna get leds for my back-up lights, and go from there.

This sounds like a patent issue. Great. Toyota at its finest.

 

In addition to looks, some of the benefits to LEDs is lower power draw (which is what causes the hyper flash), and lower heat generated. Adding resistors completely cancels out these benefits. Best to get a replacement flasher.

Just a thought, would the first gen flashers work in the second gen trucks (if they make led type flashers)? Someone should compare part numbers. I can't imagine tundras uslng unique flashers for just one model.

 

Different design in the base. The internals should be the same tho. Tho I have not looked at the wiring diagram on the 2gens to confirm it.
