Ok boys, I’m road tripping to Yellowstone and back with the fam for a couple weeks so I’ll be off the forum.

Anyone I’ve sent the PM to previously can pick up the gauntlet copy/paste the message and help people out with requests for Jerry’s contact.:D

    see sig for mods.....
In general, it is always better to buy the extended warranty SEPERATE from the vehicle purchase. You can do this easily as many dealers sell the warranty's direct. I bought one for my Bullitt. The nice smelling tight shirt short skirt wearing sales girl sent to sell the warranty and paint protection blaa blaa quoted $4800 for the 8 year 100K mile bumper to bumper. I bought it direct from Flood Ford for....... $1300.......... My oldest daughter works for the company that makes the software packages that sells all the 'stuff' dealers push as part of the sale and she says NEVER buy any of it, they make 200-500% profit on that.

I didn't buy one for my 2.5, but would have if I bought the new gen, just because it was new.

Another Little Story. I did so with my Jeep back in 2006. It was a LIFETIME unlimited mileage bumper to bumper *Chrysler was desperate in those days). Cost me $1800. We didn't use it till about 125K miles starting 5 years ago. It's my youngest daughters Jeep now. At last visit for oil change she had them go over it with a fine tooth comb. They came back with all kinds of ridiculous stuff for a total bill of $7600...... The Jeep is worth $4800, so Chrysler cancelled the Warranty and cut her a check for $4800...... Plus we probably had $8K in repairs the last 75K miles. They replaced the full front suspension, calipers and rotors all around, starter, water pump, axle shafts, axle seals, etc. Again, the car was bullet proof, and all the work done was just normal wear and tear for a 12-15 year old 150K+ vehicle that goes off road all the time. So for the entry price of $1800, I got a total of $12800 out of Chrysler. Plus my daughter has $4800 more for her down payment. **Truth be told, I would have thrown $1800 away if it had a 125K or 10 year limit. But on an untested or potentially unreliable vehicle, it is worth it. My Mustang is at 3 years and 20K miles and not a problem, but I am glad I have it.

That $7K 'must do repair estimate' was 6 months and 10K miles and the sucker keeps going.

    Agree with you.

The only time when it may be ok to buy extended warranty at the same time when buying the car is when you're prepared, already got a low quote from the forum and ask selling dealer to match your low quote and they do match it.

Although most of the time dealers will not match your low quote. In CA it seems that dealers have higher cost of the warranty, and can never match out of state dealers...

There are a few members watching this thread and sending the contact info.

As far as I know, we're all referring to the same sales person - Jerry. That's whom TBS originally referred me to

I have not received my Tundra yet (should be in the next week or so) but I am thinking about an extended warranty. I went through this entire thread and the options/pricing are much better in the US than in Canada, that is for sure. I also wonder why the US you can still get the extended warranty just before the 3 year/36 miles expires while in Canada you only have 30 days from the date of registration to get it. That one really pisses me off.

I usually keep my vehicles at least 9 to 10 years and put very low mileage on them. I this will be my 7th Toyota and I have never purchased any extended warranty even on the wife's 2020 Highlander Platinum. Saying that, all my Toyota's have been great with only the basics being needed, brakes, rotors, fluids, light bulbs, battery etc. Only on the 1999 Sienna did I have to replace the alternator and that was it. So luck has definelty been on my side.

I am still really on the fence with the 23 Tundra though. I found this video by AMD that has been very informative.

Just got back with from my Toyota dealer. Got my hopes up as there was a CSM Tundra on a car carrier behind the dealership but it was not my truck. :(

Met with the "Financial Services Advisor" and obviously the extended warranty came up. She recommended the following to me:

    5 year/100000 km @ $2519 beaver tails
    6 year/120,000 km @ $3139 beaver tails
    7 year/120,000 km @ $3329 beaver tails

Prices are negotiable, best she can do is $200 off. Included with at would be free (nothing is free) first 6 visits for inspections and tire rotations with 3 of those visits providing oil changes and oil filters, with their quoted value of $1,280 :canada: (I figure only worth $750). These 6 visits must be taken within 4 years or 80,000 km whichever comes first.

I have 31 days from the time I pick up the truck to decide and I ask her when the warranty starts and she said it is in parallel with the existing 3 year/60,000 km warranty when I buy the truck. So really, you are only buying 4 extra years at most.

Question to all of you, would this be wisely spent beaver tails?:help:

I too just recently purchased a new 2023 Tundra and am interested in purchasing an extended warranty. I would appreciate the warranty contact info being shared in this thread. Thank you.
