Long story short made bad assumption something should be dry and was not trying to cut across some property we own.... Little did I know that there had not been rain in 20 days but they had been draining water into the basin from another area...

Anyways, I tried to dig myself out but like a dumbass only had a shovel and the sticks I tried to use to get out didn't work and it only made it worse.. End up having a tow truck come and winch me out...

Badge of honor/ badge of dumbass or both?

The issue was i was coming down a steep vertical into that basin and braked when i should of kept going... the 4x4 did nothing lol.

Bonus, wife was with me, told me not to go where I was going and was not amused for the 3 hour wait to leave..... I would of preferred to be stuck alone lol...

Welcome to the forum from OKC! When literally off the road, if at all possible, walk it first. I once learned a hard lesson when apparently one little stub of barbed wire was poking up in the weeds. It just happened to stab in the driveshaft u joint. Wasn't long and like 30' or so of old barbed wire was wrapped up under my truck complete with a couple of bent up super old rusty t posts that also came up out of the dirt. Luckily I didn't get a punctured fuel tank out of the mess. Sure wasn't fun!

It probably won't be the last. Someday you will laugh your ass off about it.

Your mistake wasn't getting stuck in the mud. Your mistake was having your wife with you.

Nice truck and well done! There are many jealous Tundras out there that will never get that dirty.

Airing down before/while stuck may have saved you there. The highway tires were not helping either. I agree that route looks deceiving, eastern washington when it’s dry you can drive over most any ground, but a few days of rain and it’s a mudfest but looks identical on the surface.

Happens to the best of us! Now you can tell her that you need a lift and 37" Mt's so you don't get stuck again:woot:

Welcome aboard! Good reason to upgrade to a lift and All-Terrain or Off-road tires.

tow guy recovered me by winching/pulled me out from the back... lol Was just glad he could get out there to that spot could of gotten myself in as lot more trouble in a few other spots after being out there especially if I would of been sunk farther out.

Thanks, I have been assured she wont be there for the next one by threat of multiple bad things. lol

I viewed it as a experience, like hanging upside down in a seat belt once... don't want to do it again... but add it to the list... unfortunately she doesn't see it this way.

Secretly, you hit something on the nose I can say hey I have been stuck in the mud with a goofy smile.

Getting stuck is half the fun! I once got stuck in 4’ of snow and took 4 hours to literally dig the whole trail out and destroyed 3/4 traction boards… all you can do is laugh, even when your feet are soaking wet and frozen lol. Makes for good memories

I got stuck once and had to get pulled out by a fat woman in a Ford Escape. It was an all time low for me.
