So first off , I love my tundra. However with my job change to truck driving I never drive it anymore (hardly) . Now when I say I love it , I love it as a modern vehicle. Reliability for lots of miles etc. I also built it for trail running which I unfortunately do much less of now. Not because I can't mind you, but with my home time I'd rather spend time with my family than off by myself offroading. (They typically don't like going with me. ) now all that said , I really was content letting it sit until........ I found one of my dream trucks. A 1997 Chevrolet 3500 dually extended cab 4x4 with a vortec 7400 454......

For those that don't know, I also have another truck, a 1984 c10 restored ls swapped and awesome lol. I'm kind of really digging the idea of selling my tundra and buying the dually and restoring it as my "everyday" truck. The tundra would also allow enough money to purchase the dually, repaint / or paint correction , tires and a supercharger for the dually AND payoff my wife's lexus.... what do you guys think? I've always liked the tundra but it's never been a nostalgic truck for me , it just did what it does very well and looked good doing it

Not crazy. It's just a truck.
A 454 with a blower in a dually as a daily driver seems a little ill-advised. Figure about 100' per gal?
You only live once and it goes by quick. Build your dream truck.

Well "daily" isn't really accurate anymore lol I drive a semi, so I'd only be driving this one on my home time. I'm home every 5 days or so.

The good news is that used vehicle prices are absolutely insane right now, so i imagine that you could fetch a very pretty penny for your truck. If you can make it out of the deal with a dream truck and reduced debt, it almost seems like a no brainer.

If you don't need it and you can pay off a significant amount of debt then do it.
I'm no fan of the Dave Ramsey investment advise but his get out of debt advise is spot on.

Go for it Will if it makes you happy and you can afford to do it. I ask my self if I’m crazy cause I’m in the same boat deciding to keep my tundra Pro. Yes I love it but I don’t need to have a full size truck. I don’t tow. So I maybe making a change. Plus other reasons.

Yes, you're crazy. Next question.

I'm with the crowd saying to do what makes you happy. I'd personally be looking older than 97 for the build you're describing (70's squarebody would be my preference), but I'd still appreciate seeing the progress and 2nd what Cpl_Punishment said above.

Yes, you are a little bit crazy. You have the most worry-free, never-let-you-down truck ever made. And just because you don't need to depend on it very often in this current season doesn't mean you should ditch it for a second Chevy from the previous century.

That said, I am typically the type who distrusts my own impulses. If I were in your position, I would at least sit on it awhile until the emotion/excitement of it all subsides. I've saved myself LOTS of money this way. :D

Look at you being rational and giving him good advice and thus cheating the rest of us out of supercharged GMT-400 pictures. :pout:
