What home improvement work did you do today?

Cleaned my a/c condenser unit outside. It needed it.

 

Son moved into my “shopartment” behind the house, that remodel is a whole nother story. He and his wife have 3 cats and wanted to build a “catio”. So here she is. May become a chicken coop when they buy a house and move out.

 

How big is the cat?

 

The cats are why they are in the shopartment and not just in the house with us. Cats were a no go in the house.

I may have to look at one of those. Looking at options for our back porch by the pool and would need something about this size

 

We mad a massive one outside at my parents. It looked just like a live oak tree and grew just like one too. Was about 20-30 feet tall. Cats loved it!

 

Working on my walipini. I have the block up 4 rows so far. Going for 9 rows.
It’s so hot that I only work on it from 7 to 9 am.

 

Chamfered the top and painted the post for this (yard art)...

 

Did another run of deck railing (PT 2x4, beveled on top, 1/4" mill stainless into mortises). Need to clean, prep and stain the deck before putting them on.

 

Took out the failed IBC valve on one of our rain barrels, and put out mulch to 'lasagna' an area of the yard (she did the cardboard, I used the tractor to move the mulch)...

 

Now, bath, burger, and save feudal Japan from the Mongol horde (Ghosts of Tsushima)...

 

Oh, off-topic (ish), but I'll call it an improvement...found this at an antique/crafty store today...basically a metal box on steel casters...

 

I posted that I had some concrete problems with my driveway, path and back concrete patio pad a while back. The VP of the builder finally came out for a look and shook his head. The crew removed the driveway this week, some sections were 9 inches thick. I added a drain route for the garden area to the other side of the sidewalk, where it should flow down the driveway rock trench to a French drain that goes under the front lawn to the side of the lot, where it goes to the back and down the hill. I also added a pipe with landscape wire for future lights. More prep next week and the pour hopefully Wednesday. A few photos.. one photo shows my thyme and ground cover hill plus dogwood and misc. plants. The patio will start in a month or so, after the driveway is cured.

 

Glad they finally are getting it taken care of and doing it right

I usually give mine a hose off twice a year, but never that dirty.
