I’ve had the same thing happen when I back up too fast towards a bush or something small. You sure you aren’t just causing the emergency braking system to go off when the truck thinks you’re gonna back into something too fast ?

edit: just saw you mentioned when backing up a boat. Think I’ve heard other people mention that. Can’t speak to it since I haven’t done they myself yet. I think it can be disabled temporarily though

I have a 2023 Toyota Tundra 1794 that locks up when backing up my boat. I have the sensors off and it keeps doing it. Took it to the dealership that sold it to me and one of the managers said he has one and it does the same thing. He said he has been in contact with Toyota. Very disappointed because I bought the truck to pull my boat because it has four wheel drive. Also the dash cam doesn’t work. Glad I kept my 2010 Tundra but it only has two wheel drive.

    1. Press the button indicated by red arrow in pic below when towing/backing-up your trailer (unless you have a 7-pin plug and 'real' brakes, then the truck will auto disable this for you).
    2. Stop making new threads about things covered multiple times, and use the search button.

Another way to disable the reverse sensors and auto braking is to turn on Tow/Haul mode. (if you haven’t tried that)

The search button sucks. Both here and at Tacoma World. Easier to ask a question and get an answer than fumble around with that "left handed spanner" that doesn't really help anything.

Doing that alone didn't stop mine from locking down the brakes.

If it is doing it on a tight turn. Maybe your sensors that keep you from running into something.

I did read your OP, then glossed a bit over the 2nd post.
Save the exclamation marks for your times backing up that trailer down the boat ramp.

    Is your trailer wiring correct?
My truck does recognize my trailer (4pin plug only) and when I hit the button in the att'd pic I can back up my boat trailer down the ramp no matter the speed and angle.
Good luck with the service call and let us know if there is/was a problem with it.

Take it in. Something is certainly wrong. All the normal documented owners manual methods are not disabling the rear collision sensors and safety systems as designed.

I'm definitely bringing it up when I take it in for my first service. I won't be towing between now and then.

If you disabled it in the MID and from your dash then it's not working correctly......take it to another dealership and get it fixed.
