Shouldn't the headlights come on when I unlock the truck?

No. My 2020 will flash the hazards a couple of times but that’s it.

Nope. and I'm glad they don't. It would annoy me personally if every time I unlocked the truck to get in the bed or in the cab for something, the headlights turned on.

Mine don’t. Not even a vehicle setting for it in the head unit.

Not the Tundra. I didn't say no vehicles do it. Just at least not the Tundra. And as @Taco-Spike said, there's no setting for it.

Only marker lights flash on unlock.

I wish we could turn off the godam daytime running lights when trying to chill in the dark and not draw attention to oneself!

That pisses me off to no end, when I turn my lights off, I want ALL my lights off, and dim the fricken dash lights which get insanely bright when you turn off the headlights!

    Funny guy.

A kill switch would do that, but I shouldn't have to, nor would I.

Off should mean off, this daytime light always on bs is just that, bs.

No I feel ya. It should always be an option to be able to shut all lights off. It's always been my complaint how dash lights are on no matter what. You see people all the time without their headlights on at night because they see their dash lit up (out of safety I presume from mfg's) but their too preoccupied to realize their driving lights are actually off.

Bingo! Idiots driving around in the dark with no headlights on drives me nuts. Probably causes quite a few young inexperienced drivers to get into accidents too, just cuz they are lacking experience and preoccupied with other thoughts. Yet we have warning labels on irons, hair dryers, plastic bags, etc. to keep our society protected from themselves.

This annoyed me so I put rock lights on my frame and hooked them to the courtesy lights so I can at least see around the truck at night when I unlock it or open a door.

I think, but I'm not positive, that if you set the parking brake with the lights off it kills the DRLs. As for the dash being bright, you can adjust that with the little peg in the cluster.

This worked on my first car. A pontiac but haven't tried it on anything else since. Even just the slightest setting of the parking brake worked.

Seen a ton of people install new headlights and go to fire them up and no DRL. Several threads and tons of post over the years on TW. Most all were the e brake still engaged.

I can't imagine that annoyance of not figuring out when the DRL's wouldn't turn on after an install.

All to find out it was the ebrake

Happened to me when I did my Tacoma. I figured it out within a minute or so, but the initial wtf hit hard for a bit dripping sweat in the garage during the summer.

My 2018 has a "DRL OFF" position on the light switch on the turn signal stalk. I thought all Tundras had that.

That doesn't turn off the DRL. That turns off the headlights, but the DRL stays active. It's not "DRL OFF" but rather "DRL/HEADLIGHT OFF". Fire up your truck, flip it there, without your parking break on, and your DRLs should be on.

With truck off, apply the parking break and then turn the truck on and the DRL's should not turn on. Haven't tested it in my truck yet (drove the wife's accord to work today)

Now you tell me it has to be in a certain sequence.

I just started the truck turned lights off and set the brake, DRL still on.

Now I come back inside and see this lmao.

Glad that works, but really a pita to remember all that.
