My main 1upper story is a trip home from galveston in my moms '98 z/28. Pegged about 155, and a tx bubblegum machine lights up, and i stay in it. Past beltway, another lights up a few miles down the road, and i stay in it. Past 610. I know the inner loop, so i run all the way around, this is like '07-'08 and i get full tilt chased by an early 90's lumina sheriff. I know the car. Dude also had a 90's scsb chevy, pissed at life because he didnt get a caprice, so 3am, he's chasin, i'm running, and we get back to deer park and i lose hom on the other side of his neighborhood. So i back into the driveway across from his house. My buddies and i crackin up, and he rolls by about 20-30 minutes later, and i hollar at him, start my burnout in his neighbors driveway, and light it up down the street, the opposite direction. He didnt even chase. Parked at the house behind mine, let my friends loose, and picked the car up in the morning before school. My mom was hassled for months after that. She never got a ticket, but she didnt snitch either. Just beat my ass with a belt when i fessed up. Lol. The sheriff deputy lived in my buddies neighborhood, and he was totally cool when i reminded him of the chase, said it was the most excitement he'd had in a while, and when he figured out who my buddy was said he'd suspected it was him.

That little "windscreen" you see is all I have too. I was chest on the tank and still getting buffeted around like crazy. If you've ever seen the highways here you wouldn't be scared to do it. It's 100% flat and 98% empty. Actually, I have a pic of the terrain and my ninja 650(rip, fuck a thief).

I passed a guy in a truck doing 50mph or so when I was doing 130+. He was basically sitting still and came up fast. This was rural highways in Arkansas by Petit Jean mountain. Some straights, lots of good curvy roads.

Wasnt cool getting my ass beat every couple days without any way to defends myself. I might've been part of the last generation of feral children. I'm invincible because i've been in it, but i'm proud that none of my buddies have lied to or hit their kids. Their kids are truthful instead of scared, and its great.

I may have made a contemporaneous comment, in a PM conversation, about missing 'Like' buttons. I was appreciating being able to use one here. Most of us have memories about the time we 'almost did' something like this. But Mr. made it happen.

Yeah, I get you. My kid's having an almost completely different experience than I did. Not sure how we jumped to this... but I'm way more thrill-seeking than my son is, so getting beat a lot was, what, life prep for maintaining calm while taking risks-? :notsure:

You werent raised by peers? Both my parents worked, and i played nice with the neighbor; so their babysitter also 'sat' me. But i didnt live at the neighbors house, so i'd leave & collaborate with heathens. I looked the babysiiter up on facebook maybe 6-8 years ago & met her for drinks. And she thought i was the heaten. We argued for a bit, then made out.

everyone has their kink. Maybe he wants to do something he hasnt tried, like rock climbing or crochet. Both have their merits. Tell em a thirst for expierience is worth more than talent or perfection.

sorry, i dont know. To each their own or whatever, but after seeing so many kids on leashes i needed to stretch my boundry of expierience. Try it once.

Come do the dragon. You can run from THP.

    https://tailofthedragon.com/

Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap with 318 curves in 11 miles: America’s number one motorcycle and sports car road.
Designated US 129, the road is bordered by the Great Smoky Mountains and the Cherokee National Forest with no intersecting roads or driveways to hamper your travel. It is considered “the destination” for thousands of motorcycle and sports car fans throughout the spring.

Yeah, 103 in 20% humidity is bad enough. Pretty sure I'd swell up and die down there.

I think it's from going full throttle too hard. The grip stays still so when you roll it to full it stops, but it keeps constant pressure on it. That and cheap OEM grips.

I would love to run the Tail of the Dragon. I'm sure it's an awesome ride. Actually, an epic ride. Tourists and thrill seekers have made it very dangerous, motorcycles and sports cars alike. My brother, who lives in Bravard, NC, tells me they're is an adjacent road with slightly less curves and much less traffic. That's the road I'll take when I finally get out there to visit him. It is on my bucket list though.

It's definitely not for the inexperienced. Someone dies on it every year.

That's correct. The Cherohala Skyway. That's actually the road we take to go camping, hiking, wheeling. There are a lot of FS roads that branch off it. Nice area year round.
