Got a new 2023 DC TRD coming. On my 2012 Tundra, I downsized my tires to 255/70/R18's. Any know the wheel width on the 18" TRD rims and how what the narrowest size is that I can go to on this rim? Running Michelin LTX M/S 2 tires, I had no traction issues and got better fuel economy on the 2012. Looking to do the same with the 2023.

Just wondering, why would you want to downsize the tires? The truck actually runs great on the TRD wildpeaks.

When I had off-road tires on the 2012, the increase in road noise was significant and the fuel economy dropped noticably. I don't go off-roading and simply need a tire that is good in snow and ice and quiet on the highway. The Michelin LTX M/S 2's performed admirably in that regard.

Too funny I'm in the same camp have a 2023 Limited and between the width and the 20 wheels I'm having to drive very conservatively to get 17MPG so I'm planning on going to 18 inch wheels and run the SR tire size 245/75R18.

and I agree with the off-road comment, a Tundra in anything other than a DC is going to be too big to run in trails around me. Bough mine to tow and move stuff aside from snow don't think I even need the 4WD. If I was going to off-road I would have gotten a Tacoma, or a 4Runner

While i wouldn't call it "downsizing" i switched my tires up for narrower taller tires inside the first month of owning my truck. Stock tires are hot garbage and benefit nobody driving in places that get real winter conditions.

That's what I'm talking about - narrower & taller. Can I run 255/70 R18's on my stock TRD rims?

    Absolutely, and 255/75R18 is a 33" tire.

Aren’t the DC and CM both 233.6”?

    Yes.

as far as a i know, the only truck ever build as a double cab short bed(5.5’) was the F150 raptor.

Yep, it can be a jeep if you don’t mind the trail rash.

Actually, Chevy and Ford both did an extended cab with the 5.5 bed in the mid 2000's. They each only lasted a few years, but it's neat seeing the unicorns on the street when you do.
