7/11/23 UPDATE: Got another "2 more weeks", which puts it out to mid August.

My 2016 Limited Access Cab has been at the dealer since December 17th waiting on a headliner. Anyone else having this problem? I've tried going the repair route but my insurance company said it needs to be a factory replacement because it's part of the safety system. I already have a case filed with Toyota but every two weeks they tell me "two more weeks". The dealership won't even make me an offer on it because they don't know what it'll be worth when they can finally sell it. Closest matching salvage is in like Alabama or something (I'm up in NH) and nobody wants to ship it because of the size and "how fragile they are".

Is waiting really my only option? This is getting a little OFFICIALLY SUPER frustrating.

Does anyone know a guy at Toyota they might be able to pass this on to? I really don't know what else to do.

Or if anyone in the northeast has a headliner for sale, let me know.

What about the headliner makes it part of the safety system, and what happened to it where your insurance had to get involved?

We’ve got one in the shop waiting on headliner and airbags. It’s been a few months. Finished otherwise.

I'd consider booking a rental car for the trip to salvage and home followed by one way airfare to pick up the car. Pack an old blanket, tarp, and packing tape in a suitcase. Wrap up the headliner with several wraps of packing tape over the blanket at the salvage and hang it out the trunk if necessary. Head to the nearest cardboard source and wrap it up really good with cardboard and the tarp for water resistance somewhere close to the salvage yard. Tie the trunk lid down and haul ass home. Simply ain't going to be waiting no six months if I have options!

Yea they said it's because of the airbag. I flopped it into the ditch during the first blizzard of the season. Happened at like 2mph, pretty much just drove off the road due to visibility. Standard northern New England problems. First accident in 37 years, bound to happen at some point. There was very little carnage other than what the tow company did that got me a new bed... just a door and a dent in the front quarter. Glass was all fine. Sure do wish I reached down and hit the RSCA button instead of going "no no no no no no no fuck". Certainly had the time.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Good info.

Updated with no updates... you know... for anyone thinking about blowing a side airbag without totaling the truck.

If you're gonna do it, boys, do it right. No half sends.

Your screenname is appropriate and this story will be a lesson for us all. Definitely something on my mind with all of the Toyota supply chain issues.
