Do you have the directions? I'd like to see exactly where the wires that need to be tapped live.

The other potential issue... they don't list this kit for 2023 yet and say that the tenth character in the VIN needs to be an "N". Mine is a "P". I have sent them an inquiry.

yep...all your connections are in that area...the switch panel to the left of the steering wheel has to come out (Need to access a module directly behind it for a bypass harness), driver kick panel (For harness pictured) and so does the lower steering wheel column cover (Another bypass harness).

The remotes look small, which is good. What kind of 2-way confirmation indicator? LED, beep? How long does the battery last?

Just an LED and audible notification that the desired command was successful. Lock/Unlock/RS. Not sure on battery life...this is the remote x2 included https://www.idataguides.com/product/tr2310a/

Well, if you're not sure about battery life that means you haven't needed to change it yet. That has to be a good thing. The old Viper/Clifford AAA lasted a month at best.

I am going to get one of these... that is if they confirm it works for 2023 and P VINs.

True...Ive had this now for exactly a month...no signs of low battery. My truck is parked across the street from me and I'm 11 stories up with direct line of sight...can start it with the remote from here, no problem....the oem fob cant make it past 30ft.

    Is P vin a hybrid?

But the thing is you don't need phone link when you have 1/4 mile or more range with the fob. Buy it once and you are done.

I had a two way Viper with a ton of range, it was nice, the phone is better and works more places. especially if I think I forgot to lock my truck, I can check from anywhere and also tells you where you parked, etc.

Im staying with the app, 15 bucks is fine for me

I'm keeping the app as well. I like viewing the status via the app since the aftermarket remote has no indication of last known status. Having the takeover feature is the main purpose for the aftermarket unit for me...not a replacement but more of an enhancement.

Oh, I'm keeping the app, too for status check anyway. But if I can get an aftermarket remote start I'll be dropping the start feature. Sure the phone can start the truck from "more places". But none of those places are places where I would need to start it from.

I’ve noticed that once you tell your watch to remote start the truck you get kicked out of the app and have to sign back in for “security reasons”

I just heard back from Accessorides... they are refining firmware and have not yet confirmed compatibility with 2023. I have another 6 months left on my lame ass Toyota remote start so it isn't a total crisis. Yet.

That's the part I hate the most. I'd pay $8/mo or so all day long to just have the remote start/lock/status, but they bundle it with something else I neither need nor want just to force me to pay $15/mo instead.

Once I get aftermarket remote start... or should I say when my year is up... I am just going to drop all of this. $15/month is just too much for the dumbed down functionality. The only thing I will miss is monitoring, but then I have never had that before and it really isn't essential.

Same for me so far. My free trial ran out about 10 days ago. Will likely just go without unless Toyota pulls their head out and offers the Remote Connect service a la carte at $10/mo or less.

For me to even consider keeping the Toyota RS they would need to not have it shut off when the door opens. Maybe then I'd be willing to pay a little for it. Maybe.

Good point. Since I'm plan on keeping this truck a very long time, I'd be better off spending that money installing an aftermarket remote start system if it's something I just gotta have. I'll likely just go without though.

is there a lot of aftermarket brands out there that’s good? I only remember viper. Is that brand even still relevant?
