Everything I've read on here has indicated the same, so I stayed away from the 6112's.
I am very happy with my 5100's. They ride great and were not expensive at all.

I am respectfully highly agreeing to highly disagree here…

I know ride quality is highly subjective.

This is what you need to do, use a 1/4" shim on the passenger side. If you want a softer ride don't preload a spring.

Of course it's all subjective, but my TRD Offroad was super plush when new and no mods.

My loaded limited crewmax with topper (read - heavy) rides pretty plush as well. it's got 70k miles on it, so likely some degradation in shock function but still a very nice, supple ride.

shim on passenger side? I thought it was driver side???? Also, i talked to toytec and they recommended not using eibach because I have a custom steel bumper....

My apologies, yes the OEM TRD Bilstein’s are plush. I love the stock ride quality on my truck. The 4600’s which are valved differently than what comes stock on these trucks are what I was referring too…

    You have that backwards.
The drivers side was/is the low side and required the 1/4" shim.

Wouldn't the truck lean with the spacer lift? I measured and I don't think it has a lean, 146k miles............

1" spacer blocks and 1" shackles. Also have Firestone airbags back there for towing the boat. (8000lbs)

Springs came very quickly from this guy: (he is an active member here)

Not with the factory springs. Seems to be a thing when swapping in aftermarket springs.

If I had to make an educated guess... I assume Toyota uses two different springs up front.

I tried it first without any spacer at all... and sure enough... drivers side measured exactly 1/2" low.
I added a 1/4" shim that I hacked from one of the spacer blocks and the truck sits dead-level now.

So these wouldn't be considered coilovers but you're happy with the ride quality? I don't know what the 'stock' feel is because I didn't buy it stock. I think I'm cancel my order for 6112. Are you running shackles in the back?

And to add to what has already been said...

The spacer blocks are not your problem. The E-rated 20" rim/tire combo is why it rides like a schoolbus.

When mine had spacer blocks on it, I couldn't tell any difference at all. Still rode creampuff soft like the day I bought it brand new.
I only upgraded to 5100's because the RF shock was leaking... and figured I would add longer springs up front to do away with the spacers. It still rides like stock in my opinion, but handles the bumps a gazillion times better... and I have 18" E-rated tires with 55psi in them. With 35psi it rides like a marshmallow.

Not trying to talk you out of anything, but yes I am absolutely happy with the ride... and believe me, if the ride was anything less than absolutely perfect, my menopausal wife would certainly let me know about it.

What tire are you running? These tires are brand new so I'm not about to drop 3k on new wheels and tires unfortunately.

    37x12.5-18 BFG KM3's.

Until you add some sidewall height to your combo, you will still have a rougher ride than you would with an 18" rim.

I know, unfortunately can't fix that at the moment unless you know someone that wants some 35's K02 lol. But I'm going to get rid of the spacer lift and bed blocks.

Facebook Marketplace is a good place to horse-trade.

A guy took my old worn out Nitto 35's, then mounted and road-force balanced these 37's for me. Total cost out of pocket was $1000. The 37's had 500 miles on them and still looked new. We were both happy with the deal.

I'm confused because from what I've read, 6112 are softer then 5100. but is that with normal 5100 springs? Does the not preloading the eibach shocks create a softer ride?

6112 comes with heavy spring, 5100 use factory spring. steel bumper need heavier spring to get the lift

I'm running 33" E-rated tires on 17" rims with Bilstein 5100s on highest setting. Tire pressure is at 45 psi. It's firm but not jarring. With 38 psi, it rides very nice, but isn't quite enough pressure to wear perfectly.

The issue is that 20" rims take away a lot of the sidewall of the tire. You are replacing rubber sidewall with metal. That means less flex and less cushion. You can run less air in those 20's, but then you have less protection against rim damage when you hit a pothole.

I have no idea why anyone would run 20" rims on a 4wd pickup. Makes no sense. First thing I did to mine was to ditch those ridiculous things and get more rubber.

I 100% get what you are saying, and I wish the previous owner wouldn't have put 20" wheels on it, BUT... stock tire height is 32.5"(ish) inches on 18" wheels. Currently I'm on 35" tires on 20" rims.... correct me if I'm wrong but that's the same amount of sidewall.

The factory tires are not E-rated. They are just passenger car/light truck tires.

For 99% highway use, unload those heavy 20” wheels with LRE tires. I’d guess you’re in the 110# range per, if not a little more.

Ride comfort will increase dramatically with lighter and softer tires. If it were me putting this together, I’d shoot for a set of 35x12.50-17 Load range C tires on some lighter weight flow formed wheels.
You’re on the right track with your suspension changes.

same side wall height as my 275/70-18, around 7-1/2".
