I am in AZ where it is currently @ 109 during the day and often times 80+ degrees by 10 am. I keep seeing younger people and transient types wearing either hoodies or knit hats at all times of the day.

It is 86 degrees here and I just saw the person at Wal-Mart gathering carts and he was wearing a knit wool hat. I stopped for gas and saw a couple people wearing hoodies with the hood up. Is everyone mental or on drugs, does meth, weed or fentanyl make a person cold?

I wear a hoodie on my boat all the time. It’s the SPF type hoodies and they are awesome for not burning the shiz out of my face and neck.

I think the OP is more used to seeing this in the summer in Iowa. It’s a bit of a culture shock.

My 15 year old daughter and similarly aged niece were wearing hoodies in 4th of July here when it was 92.

The answer I got was they're comfy and I don't want to get cold. Meanwhile I was sweating just drinking beer.

Still wear just a hoodie, then say they'll be fine when I tell them to wear a jacket. :notsure:

I don't know man I just live here.

People do weird stuff, kinda like buying a 3.00 bottle of water or a can of compressed air.

Texas and Arizona need to legalize weed so they quit coming to Colorado. But, I guess that’s a bit off subject.

Edit. Legal in AZ. Reason for the hoodies.

Doesn’t all material have a spf rating? (Fishnets excluded)
Like won’t a cotton long sleeve provide as much protection as the fancy hi dolla slippery silky shirts?

Technically UPF. But cotton is less effective than poly.

Drives me nuts when I see idiot kids driving with their hood on, completely blocking peripheral vision.
You're already a terrible driver, you're looking at your phone half the time, car stereo on too loud, the last thing you need is to block 80% of the vision you weren't using in the 1st place.

Cotton has a UPF rating of 5. So, no.

The fishnet you wear on your legs may provide some protection but you will look like a Dalmatian due to all the holes.

In school, kids wear hoodies when it's hot and shorts in the winter. They'll go out for recess, chase each other around then come in all sweaty (& stinky) complaining about being hot while still in their hoodies.

The folks in the desert might know a little about how to dress in the heat/sun.
They wear layers of cotton/linen and cover everything.

I work outside ( construction ) and wear long sleeve shirts all year long, but definitely not hoodies in the summertime.

Its just a fad. Back in day men wore fedora's and you don't see too much if that these days. I'd rather see people wearing hoodies than those kids who wear their pants or shorts hung so low you see their underwear or a$$ cracks. How do you even walk wearing them that way?

Holy shit ! What kind of humidity numbers do you deal with ? Out here we regularly see temps in the 100°s but we rarely see humidity above 15% during the day.

Makes sense. That’s where the cotton would excel.
