Just made the deal to buy a new Tundra SR5 TRD double cab 6 1/2' bed. I'm replacing my 2012 Tundra (177,000 miles) and also trading in my 2021 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack. I just couldn't take keeping the Challenger in the garage all winter while my Tundra sat out in the snow. Going to order an ARE cap for the new one, as I have for my past four pick-ups. With the composite bed and a cap, is ther any need to get a spray in bed liner (Linex)? I hoping that I can deal with all the upgraded technology that the 2023's come with, especially automatic braking.

Congrats. Many have complained of the Toyota spray in liner peeling. Not sure about the Line X. I got the Toyota bed mat. Perfect. One thing is certain, the bed is dangerously slick when wet. Suggest anything to help with traction.

Depending upon what you haul, the bed mat should be all you need. Composite bed is tough. No complaints with the composite/bed mat combo in my 2014 and 2017 Tacomas. My Tundra has the spray in liner, I don't think it was really necessary but it was already on the truck.

Bummer about ditching the Challenger! Congrats on your new truck!!!!

Yeah! 6.4 L/392 with 485 hp and a 6 speed manual - it was a hoot to drive - but you can only go so fast without ending up in jail and I didn't want to take it to the drag strip. Hope the new Tundra lasts as long and as trouble free as the last one.

Those muscle cars are fun but between the insurance costs and leaving it in the garage from October till mid April and doning the 6 month oil changes (when there was 80% or more oil life) to keep the warranty in place - it just wasn't worth it any more. Plus, my 2012 Tundra had 177K on it and I felt it was time.
