I am considering coating my truck with CQuartz 3.0. I have read instructions and watched a few videos and they all talk about waiting for the product to flash before wiping it off. Can someone explain flashing to me, how to tell when if flashes and any application tips or experience using CQuartz. . Is flashing the rainbow effect or is it when it looks all dry?

Rainbow effect. Apply evenly in a cross hatch pattern and wipe off with a towel, buff with a second side/towel. In hotter weather you may see it flash quicker, if that is the case apply to smaller sections to give you time to wipe and buff.

You’ll see the haze and a rougher texture when touching it

This is the behavior you should expect from CQuartz or any other ceramic that mentions flashing as an indicator for wipe off. The first towel levels it...the second removes any of the excess product. Products like Gyeon MOHS EVO 'sweat'....you'll see small beads of (what look like sweat) when it's time to remove it. For the record, MOHS EVO is stupid easy to use

I did 2 coats of CQuartz this weekend on just my hood and I protected it with a coat of Reload. It flashed much quicker than I thought but it was nearing 80 degrees when I did the first coat. I did the 2nd coat early the next day when it was much cooler and had @ a 45 second flash time. I let it sit in the garage for 48 hours afterwards. So far I am impressed with how slick it is and it has less dust collecting on it than from my normal wax job. I am going to see how this holds up and then wait until it is cooler so I can strip the rest of the truck to coat. I have resisted ceramic coating so far thinking it was just hype and a waste vs regular wax but I am trying to keep an open mind.

Now, has anyone here tried ceramic coating on the windshield?

Yes but still haven't picked a fave. They can last up to a year but normally up to 6+ months depending on the coating. Several new ones out in the last few years.

I think Gyeon makes a "paste" wax specifically for ceramic coating. Tough to beat a good spray and wipe topper/refresher though.
