    ^ Ha...1 mpg. Lol. I drug my 7k camper up the mountain and I was showing 4 then 2 on a couple parts. I know your pain. Im going from Las Vegas(2200ft) to Panguitch,UT(8,500ft) tomorrow and dreading the fuel bill.

    I'll be hitting a 7200' pass myself later today with trailer in tow. Maybe if I unplug the UG then I can pretend I'm actually getting double-digit MPGs--until I see the gas guage anyway. :bananadead:

    My truck registers 14.5. I'm on the highway a lot and use the cruise control. it does help during long stretches of road. Living in Central Texas we don't have any mountains to climb. I drive to back and forth to work (32 miles each way) long stretch of flat highway. I do believe when your truck gets on "overdrive" it drinks gas like an alcoholic, but if it hardly gets in overdrive, then, you will probably conserve more gas. I already hit 175,555 mark this morning.

    Just like everyone. I can get 17 on highway trips. Around town, it's about 12. Towing, it drops to 10. Hills around here in oregon sap it in the city driving.

    But, i use it as a truck!

    No weight-distribution hitch. When I'm towing the trailer fully loaded I run 70 lbs on the rears and 40 in the front. Just got back from a week-long trip yesterday and with going over 5 summits each way, plus climbing a canyon at the other end, I averaged around 7 MPGs overall.

    On my way down to my property I have to go over LaVeta Pass which is 9380ft. I hauled ass all the way up. 85+. My indicator was around 5 mpg but it was so cool. Had to back off on a couple of turns. My 09 Taco with 2.7L would be in third gear going up trying to maintain 70 with cars passing me. Nobody passed me this time. heh heh. Still averaged 14mpg by the time I got back home. Happy camper.

    Last reading was 16.5, and that's around town in stop and go with A/C on! That's the best I've gotten in the six months since bought. That's a bit better than I normally get, which is around 15.5.

    So here is a picture of what I am currently getting. Before I did the 3/2 lift and installed 285/75/18 tires, I was getting 16.2 MPG. Last time I reset my gauge was November 2014. As of now, I am getting 15.9, so far it's creeping down slowly. I baby the throttle needless to say. I drive 60 miles round trip to work and the route is 75% up and down hill. 20150709_061214.jpg

    As a former owner of a Prius and the current owner of a 2015 Honda Fit that I can get 50-60mpg with, I am able to transfer the hypermiling skills I have learned to the 2015 Tundra....to a point. If I keep an eye on it and drive carefully, I can squeak 22-24mpg, however if a good song comes on the radio or my co-pilot gets chatty, the number drops pretty rapidly down to 18mpg. All bets are off in town....I haven't figured out how to get through town without mileage dropping down to 15 or so. Towing I get around 11mpg. I knew what I was getting into when I bought the truck, so I can live with these numbers.

    Im pretty sure it chops up to being in Vegas. Any road trip requires climbing and in town is city driving.

    1st post so please don't jump on me HAHA. Anyway I have the 4.7 in a limited on stock 20's and stock size tire, only modifications is a soft tonneau. I took a road trip with my wife and did about 370 miles round trip. All highway, and my digital readout said 17.3mpg. Very surprised and made me very happy to get that out of a truck this size. I am also in Maryland and at sea level.


    edited for a question, and to the OP i don't meat to step on your toes. But does any actually notice a difference in mpg with a tonneau cover or with intake and exhaust?

    Yes. I added an Extang soft roll up and swapped in a Borla for my stock muffler the same weekend. My average indication which has been mostly street driving was at 10.8 mpg. The average now indicates 11.9 mpg and still climbing. A definite improvement. On a recent 500mile+ road trip I calculated a 14.1 mpg average for the trip. Keep in mind I am at high altitude, M/T tires, and was doing up to 85 at times. Not bad actually. Extang does claim up to 1.5 mpg in savings based upon miles and how you drive of course.
