5 is a steering wheel puller specifically, where the rod threads thru the middle hole and you're missing some pieces...

Found an 8 gallon tank that'll fit under the shelf or bed platform. Could even move it outboard 6" if i cut the valve guard off. All that weight on the pass side might help the lean. But would be offset by the cooler which will have to be opposite the bed platform. 8 gallons oughtta be fine for non-potable feet & dish washing water for a weekend.


Regular lead acid or agm 12v battery and inverter and isolator vs a new style battery powerstation?

think i'll charge it with the truck, but havent written off a 200w solar blanket.

 

I've been clearing out our shop/lab space at work and just gave away half a dozen of these with the damn chargers... including a spare charger

About the only thing I haven't cleared out is the soldering station we once used to hack/compromise hardware.

there is a company that make a solar panel that wraps onto your hood like a car wrap. Iv seen it on two sequoias, charges your jackery.

 

i can optimize panels, maybe blankets.

guess if i camp pointing north...

 

Cascadia. Super expensive for the amount of watts it putts out and bougie and you can't park in the shade. Two foldable 100W panels give you much more watt per $ and you can move them around in the sun as necessary and park the cab in the shade.

The hood solar panel idea sounds good for convenience, but for efficiency it doesn't pass my smell test.

My system uses two foldable 100w panels and that has been great for me.

Cool to see Anker is getting in this market. I like their cables and phone power banks.

 

I have a spare radiator, what about a liquid cooled panel.

& eff, i could park due south & change the angle of a tilt nose 'glass 2.5 gen widebody nose... still want it.

 

Which ones are cowboy pipes? I always thought of the the straight out the back duals on pickups to be redneck pipes

 

Cowboy duals are angled out the back. I dont know if the straight back pipes have a name.

Get some wax or paint markers to help you keep things aligned with all that pullin. Be double careful when pushin if you cant get it started by hand.

It do be like dat. It’s a Leer. I just lubed up the little ball joint things at each end of the shock. Also just siliconed the sliding windows, but one doesn’t open because the track is melted. My truck sat in the sun and basically melted for at least five years.

 

Yeah the tracks on my Snugtop for the screens are all melted and wavy

 

FWIW, we had a 1972 station wagon with the rear window that would lower into the tail gate. The owners manual said to not drive with the back window lowered more than 1/3 as any more could allow exhaust fumes to be drawn into the vehicle. That car had a single exhaust pipe exiting under the right rear 1/4 panel.

 

It took me 12.5 hours to drive to my mom's in Florida. It's normally 10. Horrible idea to drive on a holiday weekend. If anyone is traveling this weekend, you have my sympathy.

 

Apparently my dad never read the manual on our 72 chevelle station wagon with the 6 inch holes on the floorboards right next to the muffler.

I like what you've done so far. About the 24" width sleeping surface you're considering: do you ever sleep on your back? If you sleep only on your left side, probably gtg and your knees can extend out over Polo's airspace. If you sleep on your back, it's likely your left arm will fall down any time it's not encased in a sleeping bag. You may not be able to sleep on your right side because you'd be likely to try to pull your knees up toward your chest and not have room, or else your butt extending off into Polo's airspace will cause you to nearly fall. Both your left arm falling below the level of your bed, and having to keep from falling while lying on your right side, are likely to wake you, or at least rouse you from deep sleep. Anyway, I vote you give yourself a bit more space. Or at least spend a night on 24"w before you finalize this configuration.

@Mr.bee I agree with Sunnier. I would give yourself more space to sleep.

I sleep on this bed box and then let our dog sleep next to me on the bed. I wouldn't want it to be any narrower. I can measure it when I get back to TN.

Don'tcha know you aren't allowed to cook in aluminum anymore. or Teflon. They haven't figured out how the stone no stick coating will kill us yet, but any day now.
I think we're only allowed to cook on seasoned cast iron at this point. 1G skillets are the best!

i thought 24" would be overkill, this is only 22" & i've passed out on these many a time.

 

Why do you guys sleep above the pooch? I would stuff my doofus mutt up high and sleep below. No chance of falling and they don’t sit up and hit their head like we do.

 

I just shove a futon mattress in the bed with my softopper and call it good for now. But I want to buy a small trailer and bob my bed someday. I also don't have a dog.. so it's just me and my gear, sometimes parts.
