I couldn’t find any previous thread that covers this, but has anyone noticed how cheap and clunky our shift knob feels? It squeeks like plastic on plastic. Referring to when we shift or resting your hand on the shift knob. The shift knob itself is fine. Any solutions out there?

Replace with Teton Workshop and call it done.

The shift knob is fine, its the shifting that feels clunky. Just doesnt feel solid and I get a little play in mine. It could just be how toyotas are.

Thanks for the pics. Looking for an inexpensive solution. Does yours sound squeeky and feel clunky too?

    I never really noticed it.
I downshift a lot to slow down on the highways.
More to hear my BAM exhaust than any other reason..

I know you stated the knob isn't your issue, but the TRD shift knob feels much more comfortable in the hand than the 2X4 OEM.
My right hand rests on it when I drive..

    Available in silver and black..

Thanks for your input. I bought the same shift knob as you to replace the original oem 2x4 knob. It looks a lot nicer, better in hand feel too. I tend to rest my hand on it a lot. I think the culprit is where the shifter connects to the transmission. That’s what feels like plastic on plastic.
