Don’t forget a GT Yellow Jackets game. When that got out, traffic would come to a standstill in that area as people walked down the middle of busy streets.

It was at that time I began to realize how big college football is in the South.

As a low voltage electrician (wire runner) installing security systems in commercial buildings, i lived in southeast houston, and had to drive all over houston. Which is why i bought my zx6r. It was like being made of dark matter because traffic didnt interact with me at all. Full blown houston rush hour, and i'd blast down the shoulders, and backwards down 1 way streets. An hour commute for everyone else was about 20 minutes for me. So it was always up to me to get kolaches & breakfast burritos for everyone.
Left my tool bag in the work van. So i might be on the clock, but didnt have to start doing anything until the van showed up.

Today I finally got a new windshield installed after months of enduring a leak when it rained. Dude came to the house and knocked it out in like an hour. He did find rust, so he hit it with a wire wheel and primered it. Hopefully that does the job. Only $300... I should've done this sooner.
Now the trucks getting an oil change, new fuel filter, transmission drain n fill (340k miles and the fluid is almost black, no power-flushes for it. Will drain n fill each oil change til fluid is nice and red) and the rear diff drain and filled, plus LSD additive. The only thing left for me to do with this truck is remove the CB, install my Pioneer touch screen (Windows touch screen in it now is shit) and address the water leaking on the passenger floor (I have the parts, just been ignoring it).

Just my opinion but I wouldn't overdo those drain and fills. Transmissions tend to need a little debris to operate properly at high mileage.

Again, just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions.

Could be, who knows. But I also have heard it often. If you ever watch the Car Care Nut (Toyota mechanic) on YouTube, his is the latest where I heard to not overdo it.

First time hearing that. I've always been told drain n fills are fine it's the power flushes that kill a high mileage transmission if the fluid hasn't been changed much or at all (black). The highest mileage Toyota I've done a power flush on the transmission was my 99 taco with ~190k at the time. But I think a few drain n fills over the course of a year or two or til the fluid turns red again will be fine

Very helpful however he mentioned doing drain n fills back to back to back in one sitting. I'm talking about do one every 5k miles on a truck I drove maybe 5k miles to 10k absolute tops a year

Yeah, but he mentioned not overdoing it a few times. If it were me, I'd do one now and another 20-30,000 later.

But then again, you know me, I'm just an old idiot drunk, so my advice is very questionable.

I'd say that's also sound advise.
Either way it's getting done tomorrow. It'll be good piece of mind at least another 5k, maybe 20k.

13 mile commute for me as well. Good thing is I drive AGAINST rush-hour traffic both ways. 20 minutes to work and back (if there aren't idgits running into each other). Got tired of waiting at a poorly sequenced traffic light after work at a very busy 3-way intersection (would add 10 minutes to my commute if I hit it at the wrong time) and started riding the crotch-rocket to work. Split to the head of line and hit the highway with a quickness.

I would get me arse outta bed @ 315a to beat the long lines crossing into the States. 30 minutes up to 2 hours to cross. Then a 30-45 minute commute to work. Going home...forget about it! Leave at 6p be home about 9p. Best thing about getting to the office early was shit shootin with the execs before staff started showing up. Great place to work before they sold out.

I digress...I am with you shifty, life is wasted sitting in traffic. Whole reason I bought a motorcycle. Free time is special.

I am a hobbyist. I used to detail friends\family vehicles for extra $$$ back in the day. Current neighbors always asking how much I charge lol. There is a ton of very good information on the webz about detailing if you're the type to try it. The process can be a time-sucking-rabbit-hole however. Depends on paint condition and if there is a lot of, or any, decon\correction involved. The truck was nasty due to months of road work and associated fallout.
If you have any questions about detailing, don't hesitate to ask.

No longer a teen but, once my son got his spacial awareness figured out, all has been good. :burnrubber:

I was always the first to work. Chorizo con huevo, frijoles, queso fresco and salsa with fresh tortillas 3 times a week for the crew. Living south of the border at the time and having in-laws with restaurants had its benefits. Man, I got large though...:eek2::D:rofl:

I've seen another in another video but I can't find it right now. I'm not necessarily sure about the rarity of it but I hadn't heard of it till a few months ago. Seems like an odd windows product it may be rare because it was junk, I'm not sure.

The touch screen sucks. You gotta touch about a quarter inch below what you actually want to touch, it often doesn't do anything when you touch it and sometimes it highlights it when you touch it but doesn't actually do the function

Can't own one in ATL, it's a death wish. I've lost two people in bike accidents already. Another friend lost some fingers and toes. One of the guys I work with on public safety crap in the neighborhood had to have major facial reconstruction, but the payout left him set for life, so I guess there's that? Can't count how many times I've heard they or their acquaintances and similar stories. Neighbor friend rides almost daily, but only commuting to work. Heard plenty from him. I won't do it. Hell, it's not even safe to bicycle here. I got intentionally run off the road pulling into my driveway by some asshole cutting thru the n'hood back in 2016-2017ish, thrown into a picket fence. That was fun.

If I was still in the same podunk city I was in FL before moving to ATL, I'd probably only ride my bike and use the truck for fishing/camping. I respect anyone with the balls (or stupidity, in some riders case) to ride here.

The whole notion of transmission drain/refill seems almost like a religious debate...you just have to have faith in whatever methodology you subscribe to!

When I got my truck at ~ 220,000 miles, there was no record that the transmission fluid had ever been serviced. I did a drain/refill and had no problems whatsoever. I used Castrol Transmax for Asian Vehicles. I've since learned that my year (2004) is a bit of a unicorn in that it calls for T-IV. (2000 - 2003 = DexIII, 2004 = T-IV, 2005 - 2006 = WS). Who knew? (I suppose I could have looked it up, however).

Lately, (~20,000 mi since) I've begun to notice a vibration when cold (turns out Toyota transmissions are notorious for this), so I ordered up a case of Aisin T-IV, and today did another drain/refill (~3.5 qts.). I intend to do this again in ~ 5,000 miles.

I'll report back if something bad happens...

The drive back and fourth to work is what's going to drive me to retire earlier than I should.

Perfect world I'd work another 5 years at my good paying salary and retire in North Ga but instead I'll probably go in 3 years and will then need to work again. But if it gets me out of south Fulton County and into God's country then it'll be worth it...

Rant over - sorry for those that really don't care about Hotlanta........

Portland metro is super bike friendly. Tons of green roadways and special paths. One thing I like about this place. Not utopia safety-wise but better than average for the heavy traffic.

Driving is more frustrating, people go the speed limit and sometimes slower.

There's a huge gap in the market for nice, non-obnoxious BBS-ish colored gold wheels for our trucks. I reckon* that could look really good. I'd like to see a tad more yellow in it, but it'll look awesome in sunlight.

I love most things shifty but when it comes to wheels I am not at all sure wtf he is smoking :)

if we all liked the same stuff it’d be pretty damn boring though.

q, do I attempt winch relocate to use on felling a 40’ Hawthorne between house and fence / woodshed or do I play it safe and use a ratchet strap / come along dealio?
