First time I saw it was a few years ago. They had built a version for their '07 Tundra SEMA truck. Super stoked they are putting it into production. I should have one of the first few that they build. No idea on a lead time. Still waiting on the front bumper.

Old Man Emu suspension. Brute Force Fab front bumper, rear dual high clearance rear bumper, sliders and headache rack.
Following this thread closely now as we just bought a new Limited to replace our 14 year old Chevy. You are going down the same road we plan on regarding building an overland/backcountry rig. Lots of good stuff here to watch.

I too am looking at King, ICON and Fox suspensions as well as Toyota's TRD suspension accessory...but trying to figure out the leaf...good stuff here on what you are doing. Gives me some directions to look. I had my eyes on Budbuilt skid plates as well....looking forward to seeing and hearing about them.

Also, that switch system is a good idea. I've been trying to figure it out as there isn't as much room as our old Chevy had.

Question for you, and everyone reading here....is weight....specifically, GVW. That was an issue I had with the Chevy. Everything was steel and it was heavy. So I'm going with as much aluminum as I can with this build. But I'm still bumping up the GVW limit of the Tundra. We are pulling a small overland trailer, so add 320lbs for the tongue weight too. It appears I'll be well under either axle's rating by a long shot.

I went to the scales yesterday and with me in it, I'm sitting at 5,900 lbs. Not a lot to play with (I knew this coming into the purchase, so not a surprise).

I called Expedition One about their dual swing out and they told me 200 lbs and they don't offer it in aluminum. I can't seem to find many people who don't. Do you have any concerns about hitting the GVW of the truck and/or going over? I saw a guy with a 4-Runner who was running close to 7,000 lbs, and I know the 4-Runner isn't rated for that.

Any thoughts and experiences would be appreciated. Good job so far! Looking forward to following along.

I had Icon everything on my FJ, all 4 corners, upper arms and rear trailing arms. It worked well and made the truck really capable. However, I had always kicked myself for not getting King's. I wanted to fix that with Tundra. The coilovers have 600lb springs which will be more than enough to support the front bumper (Exp One) and winch.

For the leafs, I had looked at Deaver and Atlas. Serena over at SDHQ set me up with the right Deaver's based on how I told her I would be using the truck. She tracked down the U748s for me. She's awesome as is everyone over at SDHQ.

Not too concerned with the GVW. I think I'll be under the limit it but just barely. I did order Bud's 'lite' steel plates to try and save a few lbs. I haven't even opened the boxes on those yet but I'll snap a few photos when I do.

I can't recommend the SwitchPros unit enough. Even though I've had a few issues with the light bar, I can't imagine not having it. It simplifies so much. The only thing I'll have that won't run through it will be the winch. For that, I'll put a switch into the dash by the USB ports. I mounted the 'brain' to the top of the fuse box under the hood. SDHQ's center console mount is brilliant. I did see a pic or two on their IG account for a dash mount for the 1794 and Platinum trims.

I may also do a trailer but it isn't a priority at the moment. When I do, it'll be small for a RTT and kitchen supplies.

As you may have seen on the Tundras Live thread, I spent a few hours this afternoon getting the front suspension on.

Tomorrow morning, I'll get an early start on the rear. Try and finish it up before it gets too hot out. Later in the afternoon, I'm going to try and get the front bumper on. Starting to come together.

Quite a but of work done today. Got the rear suspension finished this morning. Wrestling in the Deaver leafs was almost an exercise in futility.

    IMG_0135.jpg

But, got her all back together and made a shake down cruise in the neighborhood. Will get her aligned later this week.

Took a few hours off. Ate. Watched the Vuelta. Then went after the bumper.

Plan was to get it aigned and tightened after dinner but that ain't happening. Totally wiped. I'll get it tightened down tomorrow and get the lights wired up.

Forgot to post a pic yesterday of the finished bumper. Winch and some round amber PIAAs are on their way. Grille will finally be replaced in a couple of days. DB Customz takes his sweet time in getting stuff out.

Still need to wire up the lights and figure something out for the plate once the winch arrives.

Thanks man. Working on the truck is one way for me to calm down from the day job. Taking on more than what I ever felt comfortable with doing on my old FJ. It's a great confidence booster. Lots more to do.

I need to go dig through your compressor info. That's next on my list.

I can't find CM-lenny's compressor set up. Im doing an add a leaf and Firestone airbags to give mine a little more ass end. Not wanting to put my compressor under the truck and want to do something custom with the switch and gauge.

Any info would be much appreciated.

If the Deavers start sagging under load, I won't be using bags. I'll pop in a set of Timbren SES springs. Compressor will be used for the rear locker and filling tires.

I'm either going to put the compressor under the hood or build something for the bed. Leaning towards the bed at the moment as I'll have the second battery mounted there.

So you didn't go with the LSD??

Im going to need mine for all of the snow road driving up in Alaska so the air locker was out.

I think that the bags might be over kill but they bolt right on and If I can use the compressor for tires too then why not. Im thinking that the compressor might be going on a side wall in the bed. The thing is pretty small and can be out of the way and will pump out 100#s so I will see how that works. Will go ahead and put the gauge and switch back there too as I won't be needing on the on fly adjustments to my bags. Should be able to plumb it for both the bags and a coil up air hose.

Going with USB power and power port back there too so I will post up some pics of the custom panel and the air compressor / hose set up.

I'd considered the Auburn LSD but for how I will be using the truck the ARB is the better option. Before you commit to bags, you may want to take a look at the Timbrens. They are a viable option.

Would love to see pics of what you'll do in the back. I'll be building a box to put at the front of the bed to hold the second battery, compressor, fuse block and other tidbits. The Decked drawers have two cubbies at the tailgate and I'll put power outlets into each of them.

I would love to see/hear more about your inverter design ideas. I'm having a hard time finding any useful info on the forum. I have done many searches but nothing more than just the mention of an inverter.
