I’m just wrapping up my timing belt on an 06 DC 4.7l.
About to put fan and shroud on and I have 1 bolt left over. Its a long shot but anyone know what this goes to? It a long bolt, 12mm head.
Going back thru U tube videos now. I hope it’s not too far back

    Thanks

It kind of looks like one for the alternator or power steering pump. Did you remove that during your work?

On mine, alt bolts are more grey or gold.

The little smooth provision on the end tells me whatever it is, it's intended to insert into the block or something that may be a blind entry. AC compressor, PS pump, maybe? I'm stabbing at guesses.

But one guess that's on-target: I guess this is why everyone warns to bag and tag your parts when doing this job

I think that's it. It looks familiar from when we worked on John's truck. We had to unbolt his power steering pump and swing it out of the way to do the alternator I think.

I had to loosen my PS pump to get my alternator swapped out, but I didn't take the bolt out fully, so I can't remember if it looks like what's pictured.

It’s a long bolt so might go thru something thick, looks like alternator

    it’s the toes for me!

I’ve got it mostly pulled apart again….it seems like the alt. and PS pumps use 14mm bolts. 12mm nuts. I’m at a loss here.

I think you're the 3rd person who had a leftover bolt after WP/TB swap recently. 2nd one I've seen where the mystery bolt is long and (I think both) 12mm

Are you sure that bolt didn’t go to a puller or other tool you may have used??

So the only thing I had not yet installed was the bottom bracket that goes on the AC compressor. The bolt I believe it the top hole in the bracket, the bottom gets a nut.

    I think issue solved…..

That looks like it might go to the serpentine belt main idler bracket.

Not the tensioner, but the idler bracket that supports the fan clutch.

It’s definitely the upper left bolt to the flux capacitor cooling assembly housing. Should be replaced every 10 time jumps or 2 years. Whichever comes sooner. And for gods sake, no anti-seize on it!

I'm going off memory above, but unless it's for your ac bracket, I don't remember any bolts like that being terribly buried.

I would go to YouTube, find one of the many relevant videos, then carefully watch the disassembly process until I saw the part in question. Or, go to one of the parts sites and look at the exploded diagrams.
