Remove critical underhood relays if you are gone or parked for an extended period. Make them TOW IT AWAY.

Why guys don't do this in the clownworld we live in now is astounding.
Believe me, I learned the hard way and unfortunately they got the new chained-down Yamaha 700 grizzly with the truck as well.

Beautiful truck. You are a very patient person waiting that long.

I gotta ask, did your stolen truck ever get recovered?

Would you care to expand on what removing critical relays would entail? I’m genuinely interested.

Sure thing, and frankly I have no idea why guys won't comment on my statement here, maybe theft isn't a real problem for some folks.
    Baffling.
If tweakers can't start your vehicle, THEY CAN'T STEAL IT without literally towing it away. Removing a fuel pump relay from your fuse cluster effectively renders the truck un-startable--period. A few moments for a guy to familiarize himself with the Toyota underhood fuse block would make for quick access to a specific fuse to remove. If a truck sits for more that a few days I'd be removing several critical fuses: starter relay, fuel pump relay.....
A broken window or lock cylinder is one thing, a stolen, trashed truck is completely another. Most stolen vehicles incur body damage.

Several companies make fob-operated starter or fuel pump relays that go right on into an existing relay slot to enable the driver to render the truck un-startable until activated. Simply remove the factory relay and replace with the fob-operated unit.

I think many, like myself, never believe it will happen to them. Especially in a controlled garage like an airport. From now on I will be doing something like this, although the new rig will never see an airport. However, I wonder if these fuses will immobilize a hybrid?

That's a good point. Now I'm wondering how the thieves had a parking ticket to use when the exited the lot -unless the victim left it in the truck (which would be a good reason to keep it in your wallet.)

FYI, on the 3rd gen the "Safety Connect" subscription is the part of the app that locates your truck if it's stolen or if you're in an accident. It's a 10 year subscription and still active on my '23 even after my Drive Connect and Remote Connect expired.

I hid an Apple AirTag in my Tundra. No one would ever find it. Cheap and easy.

I'm going to give that a try. I even talked with Apple Support -who weren't that supportive of the idea but did want to know how well it works. The only issues: 1) not GPS device, only Bluetooth, so it relies on other Apple devices close by to locate it. 2) I've heard it will beep if someone else with an Apple device that's not tied to it. They do this to prevent bad apples (pun intended) from putting Airtags places so that they can track or stalk someone. I'll test #2 out when the wife uses the truck.
Side note to Airtags -my wife was traveling and the airline lost her bag. They really screwed up as they had tagged my wife's bag with someone else's baggage tag. They had absolutely no clue where her bag was. But she had an Airtag in it and she could even tell them where it was but they still couldn't I.D. the bag because of their error. Luckily the Airport where her bag ended up was on her itinerary so she was able to retrieve it from their lost baggage department. All because of her Airtag.

I agree it's not 100% fool proof since it's Bluetooth. But if it slows the theif down or makes them give up and ditch the truck at least I have SOME chance of finding it. Seems like most people have iPhones these days so the odds are on my side....I think. Like I said, cheap and easy.

The other thing is it is also dependent on cell signal. I know this because of tracking my wife via the the Find My app during her business travels out here in the wild, wild west ;-). As you said, cheap and easy. And GPS based items will also lose the signal at times. It's like trying to make a cell-phone call inside a Big Box store with a steel roof or even using the particular store's app while shopping. Nothing is perfect.
