That’s the best way they have to keep us all under surveillance. Every computer and television screen has a camera, and they can watch every move you make

You know they say Paul Walker went public about putting some work into a certain documentary addressing an issue that he found to be heinous and deserving of his attention just before the vehicle he was in blew up (I mean hit a pole)...

Interestingly, Anthony Bourdain also ended up deed while working on his own similarly based documentary... :spy:

and then we got the whole Alec Baldwin thing, which had nothing to do w/any of this other stuff; oh wait, the chick he killed was also working on a....

People are a little worried after Snovid where the power grid failed to keep up when the whole state fell under some pretty nasty weather even though the Gov and his appointed people said they were prepared. We were lucky because we share the power grid with a hospital and police station. We were unlucky in the fact that the powers that be also decided it they would allow the power companies to up their prices during the power issues. We paid almost twice as much for electricity than we would have normally that month.

At least we didn't have to burn our kitchen cabinets to stay warm.

Y'all that are looking for conspiracies... a lot of people died because of the cold/lack of electricity however the state will never own up to it.

So we are here again. That exact opposite situation but all the same. The governor and his appointees are swearing the power grid will hold. Last week we came under a new alert that asked people not to use too much electricity because we were close to overloading the states grid. Last week the heat dome didn't cover the entire state. This week it will and when it does, it may affect the wind farms that are helping generate electricity.

So yeah, I think people have the right to be a little nervous.

I get it's hot, but weather cycles about 5 years (higher than normal; lower than normal; wetter than normal; dryer than normal).... TX is going to be hot and humid; AZ and NV are going to be hot and dry; PNW is going to have rain (a lot of it); Canada is going to be cold and snowy in the winter...

Bottom line is that everything is not a freakin' crisis; in fact, it's just the way things are and it's just life :playball:

If we didn't all drive gas guzzling Tundras this wouldn't be happening!

On a serious note, (and one I've not heard an adequate plan/answer to) how they expect the TX grid to handle the load of 13 million electric vehicles being plugged in every night once the ICE is banned?

It gets hot out and the grid goes down, but we all need to trade our vehicles in for electric ones that will plug into said grid. I wonder how that will go.....

Dammit! as soon as I posted that, I see @Jernik beat me by 2 seconds.

Again though, your point solidifies what I just said.... I grew up in Sacramento. It wasn't TX hot or humid by any means. However, several times each summer PG&E would run rolling black-outs (during the hottest parts of the summer) to conserve energy. They'd act like it's a surprise to them and that we (the consumers) were to blame; yet in the midst of this 'lack of energy' new homes continued to be built, new commercial construction continued to develop, and we continued to allow more and more people into the state which couldn't support the growth but would happily take your tax $$$$

Another example is the 'record' moisture that CA received this winter; yet once again, almost 90% of that water made its way to the ocean and not into the aqueducts, lakes, etc.... The occasional flooding that happened was highly coveted, meanwhile crickets on the positive attributes of this year's moisture. In fact, it was still raining and snowing in CA when they were already starting to talk about this coming summer's drought

For the last few weekends my wife tells me I should mow the yard at 8:00 PM since it is so hot.
Fuck that, I'm minimum 6 beers in with a bellyful of dinner at that time..

I got up early today and mowed.
