EEF Qi Charger v2 Release and Dual Charger Sneak Peek…

Funny. More than 75% of the whole world runs phones on software other than apple. Toyota sells to the whole world, not just our world. Let's not get too high on ourselves here. Hoping for google solutions on the dual as well.

 

Will this improve the ability to charge phones with cases on?

 

Any updates? I've been delaying putting in my single charger replacement from you as I'm waiting on the dual solution but if its going to be another 3-6 months I'll just put the single in.

 

I’m actually editing the install an install video now! LoL. The units are going through final design/production process streamlining.

Also if anyone has info on adding and inverter and plugs into the center console rear and the bed of the truck, please share! I regret not getting the power package, but it seems like a DIY mod would provide higher wattage and a better wireless charging experience anyway.

Qi Lite Charger v2
This is the v2 version of EEF’s popular Universal Charger. Keeping the same 3-coil design, the unit has been updated into a sleeker, more compact design. It features the LED indicators found in the v1 (power/charging/foreign object detection) but the colors are now in factory-style blue and red. It also now comes in two flavors for your consumption: standard USB-C cable connector or factory-style plug. The USB-C connector allows the charger to maintain that true Universal application as it can be powered from any USB-C outlet in the truck. The factory-style plug version will fit any Qi-equipped Tundra’s factory harness as a direct replacement for the poorly performing factory unit.

Full Charging kit v2
Like the Qi Lite Charger, this has all the updates included with the v2 Charger redesign. You also get the option of USB-C cable connector or factory-style connector. This unit was specifically designed to allow those without a factory Qi unit to retrofit a charger into their Tundras while still maintaining a factory appearance. NOTE: an additional Toyota factory part (sold separately) is required for full retrofit. Part description and part number is listed on site. Part can be found from any officially licensed Toyota Parts retailer.

Charger Dongle (for v1 Chargers)
This was the most requested upgrade from the v1 chargers. This allows current v1 users to upgrade their current units so they can plug directly into the factory harness.

Dual Charging Insert
Finally preparing to enter into production, the highly anticipated Dual Charging unit. This simple design essentially employs the use of two of EEFs popular 3-coil chargers in a compact design. It is a direct overlay in the center console and can charge two Qi-enabled phones equally and simultaneously. There is no reduction in charging speeds when charging two phones at the same time.

EEF is currently updating the page and building inventory. I’m told this will be released within the coming weeks.

Really like to purchase this. How do I wire it in for a tundra that is not equipped with oem charger. I have a Tundra Off Road that didnt come with the charger.

 

It sounds like you will need the Full Charging kit.

Because your truck doesn’t have the factory Qi charger, you should order the USB version which comes with a reinforced USB cable that can be routed to the USB-C in the center storage. You will also need Toyota P/N 58802-0C030-C1. EEF is not an authorized Toyota parts retailer so you will have to get that from whomever you get parts through. But last I checked, the part is only about $40.

The charger will mount to the back of the Toyota part with the 4 included screws and the whole thing will replace your current back plate to keep the OEM-like appearance.

Okay thank for the info. I just placed the order for the toyota part. How do I purchase the charger from you and will there be any wiring necessary for the toyota part or yours? Will there be any wiring schematics to follow so I don't F up the electronics of my truck? Thank you.

 

Installed the V2 charger with the Toyota plug, it's definitely and upgrade from the V1. Faster charging on my S23 ultra.

 

Did you measure charging rate before and after? If so, what is the difference?

 

With V1 on my 15 min drive to/from work running android auto with waze my phone would charge 1-2% which was better than the Toyota charger that barely would maintain the charge level.
V2, same drive, I get 4-5%.
The EEF web page shows they bumped the Charging efficiency from 80% for v1 to 90% for v2 maybe that's why.

 

Interested in the dual charger when available. I have the platinum and I dont even use the wireless charger bc it is so slow I have a super fast charger that I hook up to the top power outlet. This will remove the cables finally. Please put me on your wait list if you have one. Thanks in advance

 

Anybody get the charging dongle to work on their Tundra? Installed the dongle but no power to V1 replacement charging pad or any other device. Not sure it’s ready for prime time.

 

I have a Limited that didn’t come with the Qi charger so I used the V1 here. It worked fine connected to USB but no the dongle. It would charge until I took my foot off the accelerator for some odd reason. Called support and they told me that the pin out is likely wrong and that I could return it and get a new one when they’ve figured out how to make the V1 work with trucks that didn’t come with the qi feature.
