Really into great coffee with good cream or half n half in the morning only. Best instants we've found are L'or (French; it's what tided us over while we were stuck weathering COVID in Tahiti that year) and Trader Joe's, which is pre-sweetened and cream'd. At work I'll occasionally mix one sachet of each, and I like it better than the office brews.

Discovered this personalized machine coffee this year after a run at T2S. I thought, 'damn, this is really good!', and, 'damn, I don't get out much'.

New discoveries require a break in routine.

Fell into a first car for my daughter. Long story short Grandma is going to assisted care after some medical issues and my Aunt is in charge of finding homes for stuff.

2005 Chrysler Sebring with 50k on it. Probably hasn't been over 40 in a decade until I took it on the interstate this afternoon. Currently at the shop to give it a rundown. Not too bad for $500.

Can't beat the deal on a grandma car. I think that's universal everywhere.

My local dealer has a Tundra Capstone edition. It has the side steps that retract when you open the doors. Its crazy how new trucks have become luxury vehicles.

my tundra was the first 4x4 i'd ever ridden in that didnt 'ride like a truck', that seemed pretty luxury in '02.

My first house (~1983) cost $54,900. Even though it was an old house, they told me at the closing I was the first person to ever record a mortgage on the property. Said mortgage was 12%, and a second mortgage I took to finance renovations was 15%. Somehow I survived.

I remember a friend telling me a few years ago (maybe 25) that he wanted to buy a brand new GMC, but it was $29,000. I told him he was out of his effing mind for even considering a truck that cost 30 grand.

    I sure feel silly now.

It's a nice truck and I can see why people want them. I'm just not down with spending $60k on a vehicle.

There wasn't a sticker on it. I was curious too. I'm guessing it's closer to $70k. Isn't that the top of the line model?

It is the top of the line. Using my zip on Toyota.com, a pro starts just under $71k and a capstone starts at $77.6k. I remember when they first came out having a $25k markup to 6 figures!

Another kid in my class brought his gx to the last day of class. It’s on 35’s with Dobinsons springs and 5100’s but definitely one of a kind styling!

    Oooh! Coffee wars!

"Fresh", at least as fresh as the beans, and you have no idea how long they've been sitting in the canister. After roasting, the claim is whole beans start to off-gas and begin going stale, like potato chips, the minute you open the sealed bag they're put in. Grind & brew will always be superior to pre-ground coffee because some of the core of your bean will remain fresh even if you leave it out for a few weeks, but once your coffee is ground ... 2-3 days tops and it's stale all the way thru.

None of this matters if you only need your coffee to basically taste and work like coffee 'normally' does. I don't think coffee is like wine, where a bottle of Two Buck Chuck can pass for a $30 bottle - if you've ever had a fresh-fresh cup of coffee, it's crazy. Night and day. Almost off-putting, maybe, with how fruity it can taste. I don't necessarily love fresh-fresh beans. I've seen plenty of people who keep their bags in sealed containers and only use the exact amount needed for their shot each day. I'll leave enough in the grinder for a few days, it's sealed.

    Anyway, whatever. It's go juice.

I mean ... I think you'd need to be even more out of your mind to spend $80k on any car these days. When the kids need a car, I'm capping the possible options at $6k-ish. If my 1GT died on me tomorrow, I'm not spending more than $15k on something to replace it. We got our '21 Highlander hybrid ltd used with ~10k miles on it in the 40ks cash otd when they were going everywhere else deep in the 50ks and 60k+ during the pando-price-splosion.

I can still buy a house outside the city for the cost of a new vehicle. May not be in the best shape or most desirable area, and it's only going to be a 2/1 or 3/1.5 or something equally painful, but ... it's a non-portable roof over your head.

Well I (finally) got the new starter installed on my 1999 2.5L Ranger and it's still having some electrical issues. Dome light comes on when the door opens and the key-in-ignition chime sounds, but that's about it. Brand new battery sat on a charger all night and, this morning, nothing happens when you turn the key. Time to whup out the test light and get to tracking down wtf is going on. Thank the good Lord this is a second vehicle, but I need to get this guy going soon so I can turn my attention to the 1973 C10 loving waiting for me in the in-laws' barn.

Yikes. Looks like the blower motor tried to eat my cabin air filter...? It was only 18 months old but definitely due.

Toyota's price on these is highway robbery.

Does that truck have the chip in the key? Does the fuel pump prime when you turn the key?

I thought my ignition was going oit because sometimes the key would be dead when the battery wasnt, and i cant explain it, but after swapping the fuel pump it fires up everytime. And whats weird about it is it would be running fine all day, then quit (but still turn over), then not turn over at all, even with a new battery. Sat outside my fence along the road for about a week, then ran normal for a few days, then died while carrying debris, and i brought it home, changed the fuel pump & no related issues since.
