I have a 2013 Tundra. It is a stripped down version and I have added fog lights, thanks to this site! I would like to install a gauge for outside temperature, has anyone done that or can point me in the right direction? I was not able to find any info about this. TIA.

Hey Dratman- I also have a 2013 Tundra that was stripped down and I'm wiring in the switch for the fog lights. Any tips on the connector holes and which wire to splice to activate the relay for the fog lights. I've installed the lights through the factory harnesses and added the relay in the fuse box. Just trying to figure out how to finally put the switch on the dash and where to wire it.

And I am also wanting to add the ambient temperature. It looks like it is capable of displaying on the factory dashboard, next to the time. Thanks!

The switch goes to the pink FFOG wire in the body control module. On the other side of the body control module the signal comes out the FFGO wire down to the relay to close it.

The ambient air temp sensor is behind front grill area connector A15. Its a two wire sensor that goes to the AC amplifer/ecu that is mounted behind the glove box inside the truck. (Passenger side of the dash)
The sensor reports the temp signal back to the AC amp via resistance levels. The AC amp then sends the signal out on the CAN bus to the cluster and accessory meter. You can add on in pretty easy. I might wire it up to the AC amp with the sensor on the passenger side floor board to test it first. If all is good then go permantley install it on the front of the truck.

I think there is a possibility your insturment cluster might not read in the signal and be able to send it to the accessory meter (clock in the dash) properly but you wont know unless you try. Good chance it might just work when wired in.

Great- Thank you for both of these diagrams. On the Fog light installation. Am I right that I need to just connect one wire to the FFOG 28 pink wire and then connect the ground wire to a ground? There are four wires on the switch, but really I just need to connect two, is that right? Thank you so much.

Are you using an aftermarket switch? Yes the factory switch when put in the ON postion just connects the Pink FFOG wire to ground.

What I did was ordered a new auto headlight fog light turn signal switch and a new windshield wiper switch with interment delay as mine did not have this. I pulled the steering wheel and swapped them out in less than an hour. Everything works but you will not have the auto lights because there is no sensor for dark. This way you don't need to splice any wires, someone here has a great write-up on how to do this. I just ordered my parts on e-bay. I hope someone responds to the temperature as I have not had any luck on finding info on it. (e-bay Tundra 84140-0c060)

I used a $15 switch and wired it so that if the switch and any lights are, they come on. So, they are on with the running lights which I leave on all the time.

    The thread is here.

As for the ambient temp gauge, my 2010Screenshot_20230619-153809_Gallery.jpg grade truck has this in middle of the dash by the windshield along with a clock and the Ignition identification of the chip key. A little red icon. I bet the wires are there and you just need a display.

Oh, I disconnected one OEM wire from the BCU to gain control of OEM wires to the relay up front.

After that, you add a relay, add fog lights. I used the Morimoto XB LED fogs for Toyota.

move your IAT sensor somewhere cool, insulate it. That'll make it run rich, and adjust your TPS sensor until you get the throttle response you want. Prolly help to have the right plugs for your alt & humidity, and good intake & exhaust flow to exaggerate the benefits at high rpm.

But find out how to do that with vvti.

Does that photo you posted not show the ambient temp to be 66 degrees on the display? It sure looks like it.

My only small concern is knowing this data is passed to the monitor in the dash via the instrument cluster. I am not 100% the very low grade cluster is programmed to send the temp data to the display when it reads it in on the CAN. I assume so but you never know.

The aftermarket switch I am using has this diagram for the wiring. Any thoughts on where they connect?

Red and Yellow seem to be the two legs of the switch, I think. Wording is a little confusing.

Black and Blue is ground and power for the light in the switch. It will light up when headlights are on for night/visibilty

So would you say this route:

Red to the Pink Fog light wire.
    Yellow to a ground.
    Black- ground
Blue to the Blue Tail Light wire

Now that I look at it again the wording is very confusing. The black ground and I think now maybe the Red could control the light inside the switch. Two of the wires are for this to illuminate it. The other two are for the actual switch to run the fog lights. I would test it on the battery to see which ones light up the inside of the switch.

Follow the link in post #8 to rewire the switch for active low and switch the LED on when its active. The relay in engine bay needs to go to ground to operate the fog light relay. All the details are in that link to mod it and connect it to the truck. You depin one wire and connect the switch to it.

The Ambient temp is 66F and it's 1:44. That data is available from the OBD port through the Fusion app.
