Brake Lights Staying On? Could be this...

Hey All -

I decided to give instead of take from this forum, and share information I discovered.
For no good reason I could figure out whatsoever, my brake lights decided to stay on. One trip everything was fine, and the next as I was walking away from my truck I noticed the brake lights were on. I checked the brake pedal, I dropped the tailgate to see if there was a wire sticking out (I am not a mechanic, so I check everywhere, even the nonsensical locations), and I checked the fuses, both under the dash, and under the hood in the engine bay.
Nothing at all made the lights go off. While I tried to figure out what was happening, I disconnected my battery.

I sat down to my computer and consulted with the great search engine mechanic, and found a YouTube video which I have attached the link to below.

He talked about three principal things (and I since discovered there could be more than 3 causes to brake light issues) that can cause brake lights to not turn off and number three was the green grommet.
I walked back out to my truck, unlocked the door with my key, popped the hood, and then opened the door and for the first time noticed green pieces of plastic all over the carpet on the driver's side. A flashlight showed me the grommet had broken down and apparently it happened over time and I'd been lucky until my luck ran out, thankfully at home.

Grommet issue addressed, brake light issue corrected.

The video addresses a 2000 Tundra, but the three points are good to know, especially number three, that trouble making grommet.
