The extra toasty are sooo good!

It was odd and fun and fun at the same time. Since today was the last day, they were out of a lot of stuff. There was a "gas pump" that pumped free bags of Cheezits.

Since its basically a mazda, i wholeheartedly believe it needs a twin carb 12a rotary, running premix. Balanced, ported, & NA.

this would be so much fun on my motorcycle roads. '03's are twin a-arm, not the twin i-beam nonsense.

Yeah, pretty sure the van started it's life as a normal VW too. They also had a Manx and a mid 60's Ford van that was mustard yellow.

I meant the pinto 2.3 8v with single plugs.

but in highschool my buddies slammed, notched, smoothed ranger would pull 25mpg with a dual plug 2.5/5 speed.

Sounds about right. But the Duratek 2.3 had 40 more HP and got the same if not slightly better MPG

Went to my nephew’s college graduation party today. Had a good time eating, drinking and playing cornhole. Saw my little sister and brother-in-law who flew in from St. Pete.

Other nephew brought out the Head-Butt game and I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw him wearing it saying he was “special”. Didn’t get a chance to play though, but it looked interesting. Had to leave to avoid the late night highway work on I-93 that started at 9 pm.

"So the ac works sometimes and actually blows cold air and other times it just blows nothing"

Would you all agree this sounds like a bad blower motor resistor? Trying to help my friend with his Mazda3. I told him it could be the blower motor too.

Sometimes if one is low on refrigerant it will do this. Wife's Navigator and secretary's expedition both had this problem. Older Ford's would push air through the defrost vents when they were low. Think my wife's was freezing up and blocking the air from coming through. It would make a loud sound so the blower was working, just little to nothing was coming out of the vents

I think if it's the resistor, it should only blow on the highest setting, period. At least that's what mine was doing before I replaced the resistor. And it was blowing cold before and after doing so.

Looking at your nickname on here, I'm sure there's no bias involved with your observation.

Are these photos altered in any way? If not, wtf?! Why is this person's head so f'n small? Their elbow is literally larger than their head. First thing I saw this AM and now I can't unsee it.

    upload_2023-6-12_9-12-4.png

Might need some clarification on this... does 'blows nothing' means no air output at all?
And this is why I ask...

Assuming the Mazda 3 is same as other vehicles like our trucks, if you unhook the harness to your resistor, you'll find have two settings: HIGH and OFF. Highest setting will output on high. All other settings do nothing. If that's what he's seeing, then chances are his blower motor resistor is shot.

That's exactly what I told him. If it only works on high it is likely the resistor. Thankfully for him both parts are easy to reach on the Mazda.

Went to pick up my daughters car. It's still all flooded out.

    20230612_090849.jpg

If you look in the back, that's a run off lake. It's completely over filled and is what's causing all the flooding in this area.

The vent on those Fords is run off of vacuum, so a lot of times if you had vacuum lines broken or cracked or whatever, your heat/AC would "default" to defrost no what you turn your selector switch to, it was going to head to the defroster vents.** Not sure what @FirstGenVol 's "doesn't blow at all" means--i.e., just not blowing out of the main dash vents, or not blowing anywhere.

**I have great AC in my little 99 Ranger, but when one of its how-is-this-even-a-useful-size-for-anything POS plastic vacuum lines gives up the ghost because a piece of dust lands on it, I have "ice cold AC"--just coming out of the dadgum'd defroster.

OK, so. Let's assume I'm not a spastic idiot for a moment here and maybe I just randomly luck out on finding a local RC 2nd gen shell making it possible for me to pick between the '02 Tundra or the '05 Tacoma for my road trip from PDX to SD at the end of this week. Which do I take?

    Goals:

    1. Help my friend move houses (this time from big as F to small but beachside, he's all stressed, wife wears the pants, may be several trips to storage/dump/etc
    2. Pick up my bro in law's motorcycle in Palm Desert. It should fit fine in either bed
I'd have to ditch the shell on the '02 or ditch the bakflip on the '05, minimal hassle either way.

Fuel economy is the biggest difference. And I guess there is some upside to big ass miles on the rarely used rig if I take the Tundra. Get that exhaust nice and hot. busted passenger airbag isn't a big deal, not taking any passengers.

Part of me wants to run the '02 but the smart move is take the 4 cylinder wimp truck since it's nearly the same bed and a lot better MPG's, yeah?

Been MIA all weekend. Had a lot going on. Went on our riding trip, all went well for me the whole day. One of the guys we went with rolled his shit, (again) and broke a couple things.

We were on our way back to the campsite in our side by side (Polaris RZR XP 1000) on our own as the other two that were around wanted to stay out for a bit and we were pretty close to the campsite and as I was going about 20mph at quarter throttle the engine made a sound similar to rocks in a blender and shut off.

Wouldn't start back, thankfully we were within a half mile of the truck so we walked back (mind you it's 2:30am) and got the truck and trailer and went back and picked it up and decided to just head on home.

Got it unloaded today and figured it jumped time. Though as I'm typing this I wonder if it dropped a valve on one side. Got a borescope camera and it's pretty much as bad as it can be.
    20230612_182611.jpg Photo_2023-06-12 18_50_40_081.jpg
Other cylinder looked just fine. No issues at all.

I guess this is almost exactly what I worried about buying one of these with "a lot" of miles on it. Near every component on this has been upgraded, the engine was the only thing left. Half the piston is gone now so trying to price out a remanufactured engine. Looking to be about $3k to $3.5k. Gotta pay to play I suppose.
