I have a 2020 Tundra, payload on the sticker is 1235lbs.

We are looking at getting a hybrid trailer, https://forestriverinc.com/rvs/travel-trailers/rockwood-roo/19/959.
The dry weight of the trailer is 4298 lb
The hitch weight of the trailer is 434lb
    The CCC is 1416 lb

We will tow with the water tanks empty, but would have batteries, propane, 4 bikes and regular camping stuff. Our trips are only 2-5 nights so we don't need much stuff

Would it be reasonable to assume we will load the trailer with about 600-700 lb?

This would put us at 5000lb, the hitch weight at 12% would then be 600 lb.

In my truck we have 600lb in passengers, I wouldn't carry anything in the bed.

I don't know if my numbers are right, I would be completing off on how I understand the weight in the trailer transferring to the trailer hitch. I'm just guessing on the bit I've been reading but need some advice from someone who actually understands this

I suspect in calculating your hitch weight, you might be missing propane, batteries, spare tire or anything else on the hitch or near the front of the trailer.

Tundras can tow an immense amount, if you can avoid any tongue weight.

    And therein lies the problem.

Your 4300# camper will tow just fine. Hell, you could even fill the water tanks. A WDH will even put some of that weight back on the trailer axle to help you out.

You are fine....with a WDH i doubt you would have much/any squat in the back.
Throw it in S5 with Tow Haul on and go for it!

I tow a 6k lb trailer (dry), thats the most i want to tow.

Agreed. I have a similar weight travel trailer, with WDH, and drag it all over the place. Also have a tractor on 20’ flatbed that weighs about the same. I’m careful with loading for weight distribution, but it travels really well.

I would definitely look at a tent bed trailer if i were doing it again. I like those. From the specs it looks like a single axle? I have a 16 ft single axle. I would not buy a single axle trailer again if i were restarting. It is so easy to go over max weight. My kids and wife were able to pack enough crap and clothes to blow right past the gawr. Single axles also ride way worse than a heavier dual axle im used to
