Palm greasing and market manipulation at its finest. Without diving too deep into this rabbit hole, folks should really do their own research if they want to understand whom and what is driving the markets.

Look at the above mentioned investment firms (2 of the largest); look at their largest shareholders; then look at how many board positions or CEOs have been put into place within the companies once investment firms like these have taken a huge market share of said company; hell, one particular investment firm is already positioning itself to be the driving force behind the 'rebuild' and 'reshaping' of a certain country's financial structure and economy...

Like any good investigation, just follow the money and you'll know who the players are and where the game is headed.

Oil drilling and refining is never happening at full capacity.

If demand drops, production will drop to roughly the same level of equilibrium.

The reason for increased prices is not resource scarcity, its due to intentional decreased production.

I firmly believe the reason we don't access and produce more petroleum products in the US is because we're playing the economic long game.

In short; no. Gas prices will not decrease due to adoption of EV or for any other reason. We will see short-term fluctuation as we always have, but the trend line will co tinue to climb until it all blows up on us.

I am going to test this hypothesis right now as I've just pulled a peanut butter, chocolate, marshmallow monstrosity out of the wood fired pizza oven and the mini marshmallows look like some kind of black scaled lizard died on the top of this thing....

Yup, it's official, the topping has nothing to do with the pizza quality, it's down to the clown that eventually pulls it out of the oven. :puke:

Supposedly by 2050 the world will reach peak oil. At that time I would expect OPEC to cut production drastically and raise prices equally dramatically.

The ONLY way gas will get cheaper and stay that way

Prices have cycled by a complete dollar in the last week while someone runs !@#$%^&&*

Rant over don't need :smash: :smack: BUT I filled the Tundra last week at $3.19 after it hit $3.59 2 weeks ago and it back up to $3.49 this week

It will only get more expensive....until it becomes unavailable at any price.

Which will go double for EVs.

I was kinda hoping that was a giant pizza and they were rolling around naked on it but the sharp skin of the pineapples were enraging them. Hey ho, not everyone can have a life as exciting as mine.

I've been shaking my head for weeks at the local stations still stuck at $3.19, it's been $2.85/2.86 at the cheapest pumps for a couple of weeks now. :D

The reason I asked if gas prices will get cheaper is because I'm not really looking to get an EV anytime soon...just bought 2 ICE vehicles that I'm hoping to drive long-term.

Sure, I invest in Tesla stock and want them (and myself) to do well, but for me I'd rather spend 10 mins at the gas station vs 45 mins at a supercharger.

Why do you need 45 minutes to charge? Get your choice of an EV, a hitch cargo basket or a little trailer, an 8-12kw gasoline generator, and whatever cord or adapter adapter you need and cruise. Not much different than the others who are charging their EV's from nature gas powerplants that are being built, run, and maintained by many people driving gasoline or diesel vehicles and equipment.

Our county of 67,000+ people has zero charging stations, it's a 40 mile trip to the nearest one from me, many of the inhabitants can barely afford to own a 15 year old vehicle. I can't see them all suddenly upping and splashing out on a brand spanking new EV anytime soon. There's going to be a lot of semi-rural low income types across the country left without means of transport if gas is taken off the menu in the near future. I for one am not going to worry about it just yet, especially considering that gas here is still cheaper than any I've bought in Europe/UK for decades.

Gas isn't going away anytime soon. Might get a bit more costly is the worst case scenario for now. It's not only your county, there's a huge chunk of the world depending on gas and diesel. EV's have been experimental for a very long time and that's still the case.

It will get cheaper when we finally get a working thermonuclear reactor, so the energy to synthesize a fuel suitable for internal combustion engines will get super cheap. But so would do an EV "fuel". EV will be practically free to own besides the initial purchase.

I've had a Model 3 Long Range since early January and the only time I've ever spent at a Supercharger was about 15 minutes when I was there to test what it was like. My wife is the primary driver of this vehicle 90% of the time. We use it to commute into and around town. We both have free charging at work and I had the Tesla wall charger installed at home. I also have a 3/4 ton truck and a 5th gen 4runner at home for longer trips, although if we're driving more than 4-5 hours we're usually flying.

I guess my point is that depending on your use you may never have to spend any time at all at a Supercharger. In fact, for long-term battery health, it's recommended that you don't use the Supercharger stations unless on extended trips. When you do a cost of ownership analysis and take into consideration fuel costs, maintenance costs, charging costs, and federal/state tax credits, the Model 3 quickly becomes a no-brainer as a commuter. If you're a two+ car household and don't need every car to drive over 300 miles in a trip it works well. It also has pretty amazing technology built in, and unlike every other car manufacturer, internet/tech/software updates are built into the purchase cost and don't require a monthly subscription. It blows away 95% of other cars on the road from an acceleration/speed/launch/performance perspective. It's an absolute blast to drive. This is the only car I've ever owned that has gotten better to drive over time.

I would never own an EV as my primary or sole vehicle, but for commuting it can't be beat. To be fair, my company is crazy about "renewables" and bought me this car (I own the car, they make the payments + maintenance and insurance) and I wouldn't have strongly considered it and done an objective analysis before having the car handed to me.

    Screenshot_20230612_073612_Tesla.jpg Screenshot_20230612_073619_Tesla.jpg

I should add that these numbers are really accurate with the exception of the fact that gas is MORE expensive here than the national average, which is what Tesla uses for these comparisons.

On top of this, I actually pay 7 cents per kWh for the first 400 kWh each month, but used the larger value of 10.9 cents in my app (second block) to provide a less generous estimate.

I also have solar on the roof and for the last several months have only paid $15 a month for power - so in the summer months I'm paying much less than $0.109 per kWh.

We've saved a couple hundred $$'s more than what is shown here.

I went in reverse direction: from smaller economical high tech cars to dumb truck. You just can't beat the versatility and reliability of old Tundra. Yeah, you can dump $40+k on an intimate toy shaped Tesla in attempt to save money on fuel, but you have to be pretty bad with math to do so. One cheap reliable truck that can do everything is what actually saves money and is better for environment (no need to manufacture more vehicles).

Also zipping 0-60 in a 3 ton vehicle in 3 seconds and still pretending it is good for the environment is a definition of lie.

Battery life expectancy? Cost of replacement? Battery disposal? Child slave labor battery element mining? Fossil fuel electricity production? Don't work on my calculator.

Are you replying from a phone or a computer? I've got news for you friend, sourcing of those materials are also utilizing child labor in very unsafe conditions. So is the shirt on your back and the shoes on your feet. Don't virtue signal if you can't cover all your bases.

Battery life is well over a decade, cost of replacement is a fraction of the purchase of a new car, which most people do far more frequently than every 12-15 years. LFP batteries will last literally forever. Batteries are recycled and materials reused, just like with the battery in your car.

You're using fossil fuels to power your home and your ICE vehicles. Again, don't virtue signal if your hypocrisy can be called out.

Further, I'm not making an environmental argument at all, and at no point did so during my initial post.

Finally, your arguments are old and busted and don't hold up to even a general inspection. You're simply raging against something because you feel it challenges some part of your identity. Drop the ego, understand where your arguments are hypocritical, and grow up. =]

I'm not saying the EV is the end of the ICE vehicle, simply that it has its place and I'm glad I got the opportunity to prove myself wrong because I used to think it was impractical and it's absolutely not.

No. Energy won’t likely get fundamentally, predictably cheaper.

What’s far more likely is the gov will add taxes and fees to EV charging to offset the lost gov revenue from lower gas consumption / lower gas taxes, and to help fund the massive grid investments and infrastructure build outs that moving to a mostly EV world will require.
