Well I did 250 miles on half a tank but with that non-linear fuel gauge mine has (old style resistive sensor moment) who knows how much fuel that was.

Until you start doing the math at the pump you don't really have any data to work with.

Your right foot, keep that dude in check. Not sure how many miles you have, but 16.5 pretty good. Depending on how I drive, I can get close to 400 miles on a tank (95% city driving) and that's only if all the stars align.

Seems like the 1st half of the tank goes really quickly and the 2nd half lasts forever.

Maintain correct tire pressure, check spark plugs/air filter, clean your maf sensor... probably the simplest/easiest things to check.

My 02 RWD would get 420-435 a tank between fill ups consistently. 50/50 split highway and city
My 07 4.7 needs to be filled every 280

Well I just filled up and I have to say I’m pretty impressed… 17.54 MPG. That’s nuts.

I saw 17.8 on my pa trip, about 220 miles. Filled up when I left and filled up at the same station otw home. Getting ready to 900 some miles to Florida with the new meats, We will see how much those rugged treks hurt it.

16.5....That's very poor mileage for that vehicle and prudent driving.

That's roughly what I get for 1/3 city, 2/3 highway driving mix. Avg 100% city is 13mpg. I think the best I've ever gotten from a tank, with stock wheels and tires, is 16.8 mpg with avg speed of 68mph, all highway.

I'm not readily in the gas while driving. No codes, less than 80k miles, all systems operating normal, in 2WD vs. 4WD.

I’m just happy to get double digits. Your 2020 is 13/18 in ideal conditions, highly doubt you get close to 18.

I use 3rd gen gas milage to help me feel better about mine. $50k and they are just getting a few mpgs more than my $3k, 23 year old beater.

Pretty much the same as a 5.7, minus the added power. Its a V8, what were you expecting?

Speak for yourself, I average 19 mpg YEAR ROUND. But I live rural and have no stop lights, stop-and-go, etc. I never dreamed I'd see this kind of economy and it's why I wanted the TTV6. I suspect my '20 economy is better than what the V6 offers.

That is without heavy hauling, when I load up the boat and camper it's 13mpg. My truck has stock tire sizes (E rated) and no lift.

Haha! Hand calculate and then I’ll pay attention. Vehicle generated mpg is notoriously, if not outrageously, optimistic.

I have hand calculated and it won't make any difference, your mind is made up. Your skepticism isn't new, I was exactly that same guy before this truck. I called guys liars for claiming 20mpg+/- out of these trucks.

I bought this truck in Powell, WY in march of '22. My wife drove it home. I was driving my gen 1 with a new boat behind it. When wife told me she was getting 20.4 all of the way home, (she was behind me getting some draft) I told her that wasn't remotely possible with the 5.7 V8. After three hand calculated fill-ups I realized that she (and the truck) were 100% right, the dash calculations were authentic, I'd go as far as to say, exact, and they still are.

I can manage 20mpg, but the conditions have to be ideal and I have to stay at 60mph. I do think the factory TRD dual exhaust helps.

Okay...you realize that we are just messing with you right? This is the first gen section. You're talking with people here who are driving trucks 20 years older than yours.

Correction, I owned four gen ones, wife totaled one early in ownership.

Mileage varied between the trucks, but I'd guess the average was usually about 18 mpg. I used them like trucks though, so there was occasional hauling of hay, stock trailer or boat/camper.
The obvious upside to the gen 2.5 is the excellent 6 speed auto trans, that thing is incredible with a light foot @ 1500 rpms at 60+ mph. The gen one would have been an easy 20mpg truck with that transmission.

My last gen one, neighbor bought it from me March, '22. He wanted that truck!

First tank with the topper 200 miles @ 13.5 gallons. :( Less than 15mpg. Most of that is my fault, this tank i'll try to bring less noise.

I ran out on the way to the petroleum distribution center at 340 miles. The saint of a wife brought the Jerry can to me on the side of the road at 2230 Friday night

    I figured I’d chime in here…

To preface, my driving is 99% city, and always at speeds under 45mph. I also have a very light foot.

When I got my truck in June of 2021, I got roughly 9mpg. Since then, I have:
    • kept it clear of CEL codes
    • Cleaned MAF sensor every other month (excessive, I know, but it sure feels like it runs better every time)
    • Cleaned throttle body
    • Regularly checked PCV valve
    • Replaced air filter
    • Replaced entire exhaust minus manifolds and cats
    • Kept tires at 38psi
    • Replaced stuck thermostat preventing it from warming up
    • Run high quality oils/fluids

The spark plugs, coils, o2 sensors, and fuel filter are all 10+ years old, I haven’t messed with them.

With these things, I’ve gone from 9mpg on average to 14.8, with less than $150 in parts (minus the exhaust). That 5mpg has been huge for me, and anyone that hasn’t done those things really should.

I feel like I'd be eating thru tires excessively if I ran at 38psi. At some point, that's a trade-off. I don't think I'd go higher than 36psi, and typically stick to 34-35psi. Running stock tire size on stock 17" OEM 5-split alloys.

Depends on a lot of things but I’ve run 40psi in several vehicles over the years without any ill effects as far as tire wear. Stiffer ride for more mpgs. My 04 cavalier had 14” wheels, 40 psi for most of its 203,000 miles when I sold it. Averaged 38 mpgs in that little car.

I run 45 in the titan, and got 100k out of my last set of tires. Lots of powersliding over the last few thousand.

since t2s i've been running 32 in the tundra, but before my last fill up, i bumped it up to 35. Probably settle on 40f/38r like i had before...until i do shocks & bushings.

I honestly feel like I could run them even a bit higher, at 38psi there is still some sidewall squish, and the tires show flat and even wear. If anything, they’re wearing on the outsides more than the center. I think I put the rears at 2psi less, but I don’t remember exactly.

The only reason I don’t run more is the ride quality.

I can't imagine there is a noticeable difference in tire wear between 35 and 40 psi. I will likely have to replace my tires due to age before I actually wear them out.

Economy. Less rolling resistance at higher pressures. But i got over 19mpg through NM.

titans last set of tires had a max of 44psi, but i did a couple of trips at 75psi & didnt explode, those shocks are worn out, too. So, they'd dribble over rougher sections of road.

i've gotta get back to 17mpg if im gonna keep the cap on full time. Full belly pan oughtta help.
