What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

Took the family to Hanging Rock State Park in NC. It’s a cool waterfall for the kiddos to play in!

 

Looked at new Lexus GX 460’s highlander, passport, pilot and Acura mdx’s today. I really like the 460 but I think my wife still likes the pilot and Highlander. We’re thinking if waiting to look at the new grand highlander when it hits the lot in a month or so. Decisions decisions…

 

Grew some balls and finally installed the TRD Off Road front skid plate and a factory leather steering wheel that I had purchased months ago - all by myself in my SR5 TRD Offroad. Both were MUCH easier than I expected, especially the steering wheel - with the help of posts/videos by others here. Thanks to all that contribute! Man that leather steering wheel is a difference maker, as will the TRD skid be at oil change time...

 

Interesting that you purchased in IA.... when I went on my 'late in the game' hunt for a '21 Tundra Pro (Nov of 21), I ended up purchasing from a dealer in IA as well

I ended up having it shipped to me cuz it would have cost me more to fly there and drive back than transport fees; but still thousands less than buying local!!!

 

Found a smokin deal for dirty deeds race exhaust lol too cheap to pass up. Run it for now. Sounds awesome not as loud as I thought at all when driving normal but when on it watch out lol

 

Out camping. Took a ferry to one of the islands. My TT is hidden behind the truck lol.

 

Added this carbon fiber TRD shifter. Changed oil with Mobil 1 5w30 installed a Fumoto valve and a metal oil filter housing. Good Saturday morning!

 

I ended up getting a $70 ticket on Allgiant or Southwest (forget which) to Illinois and the nice folks from Smart Toyota in Davenport, IA picked me up and within less than an hour from being picked up I was driving off the lot. Best buying experience I have ever had

cut and drilled some aluminum flat bar to attach Maxtrax mounts and mount maxtrax recovery boards.

 

Love mine....even used it to lift my boat up to change bunk boards..lol

one Hellwig rear sway bar

Both front and rear TRD sway bars

I’m honestly only looking to do either of those two options as I can live with the current driveability and know how the TRD bar alone in the rear feels

 

After 1500 miles, only one of the oil catch catch can did catch oil. The other is dry. They were cheap $20 each from Amazon.

 

Well finally got around to installing the RCI front skid plate, transmission skid plate with cat guards. Not bad. Would have been much easier with an extra hand.

 

Also bolted down a cat guard that I picked up locally. Honestly hope to never find out how well it holds up.

 

Nice! I ordered my transmission skid on 4/15/23 with a 4-6 week lead time. Was told Friday “hopefully if management decides to turn on the powder coater, it might ship next week.” Lead times have not been updated since 5/22/23. @RCIoffroad offered the powder coated steel or raw aluminum plates, but frankly, with a $2,100 spend, I’ll be patient and wait for what I paid for. Just a PSA to everyone that, as their website says, lead times are subject to “slight deviations.” An update to more accurate lead times on the site though would be helpful, as the site also says lead times should be updated “every couple of days.” I did receive everything else pretty quickly.

I'd like to get a front TRD bar.
I bagged the rear, and from past experiance, I don't think I'd add a rear bar as it made my old truck ride like there was no suspension in the rear.

 

No clue about Helwig but IMO two TRD sway bars will always be better than a single (any brand) in the back.

I run a front and rear TRD. They are great.

De-badge efforts went well. I would go with 12-15lb test next time lol, but this worked.

 

TRD front and rear here as well.

 

Sent my 20" chrome to a new home. Recouped most of what five of my new wheels cost.
Certainly dropped my resale value, but I'm not concerned about that.

How big of a tool bag is that in the center space?

 

I have the same tray. Each side cubby is roughly 10x10x4. The middle is roughly 15x10x4. Not sure if that helps.

 

Thanks! I actually have one that I need to install. But from the naked eye I didn’t think a bag like that would fit. Now I know!

 

My center one has 4 or 5 quarts of oil and a filter sitting in it currently. It would definitely hold a midsize toolbag.
