    After spending lots and lots of money I finally found a place to order thick cut bacon that is edible! It is not the BEST in the world but it is good. The problem is they ship it and they do not add dry ice they just use gel packs. This evening I received an order and I open the box and it is as warm as it is outside if not even warmer. My wife said that it is going out with the trash in the morning. I sent the company a note and I am waiting for a response. I let them know I would pay a fair share to over night it or at least two day delivery.

    The name of the company is Bacon Scouts and it is truly good enough bacon to eat. The only other place that has pretty darn good bacon is Omaha Steaks they ship with dry ice but it is very expensive and I can not order what I want from them (to pricey!) There have been four or five places that I have ordered from and if it isn’t to salty it tastes like they soak it in buckets of liquid smoke for days on end! Bacon Scouts is a little salty but totally edible and Omaha Steaks is really good but the cost is up there! If there is anyone else that loves thick bacon these are the two I have found that are worth a darn. Happy BLT Summer to ya!!:)

    Are grocery store or local butcher cut bacon not up to par in your area?
    I like knowing who touched my bacon……

    Yes, it's Gen 3 bacon :drool:

    I thought I had a picture of it from the last time, but I don't...

    We smoked it in the Egg and it came out really good :thumbsup:

    Here... This isn't my post; it's someone else's from a while back, but same process.

    Plus, he put up plenty of photos to illustrate the stages, etc.... enjoy :cheers:

    ...if I remember right I think Casey posted some photos of his homemade bacon as well :thumbsup:

    The store bought is great but it’s not thick, and our butcher does not do this. The store bought is Blue Ribbon and it is tasty, it is the best around here. They are from the Houston area too.:)

    Yes, and it's all about efficiency... you must be sure to use the whole bacon...

    The main part for breakfast or burgers;

    The end pieces for salads and soups;

    The half pieces for drinks (bloody Mary's and such);

    The necks for beans;

    The skin over ice cream or in chocolate;

    etc.. etc... etc.. :D

    We actually know a local pig farmer, just talked to him this morning to catch up on things and also make an order. Everything goes from his farm, to the butcher, then to us. Best bacon and ribs, huge chops, really nice pork butts and large slabs of pork belly on request. Best way to go.

    Yes, this exactly.
    Here the butcher block at the local Albertsons has really good thick cut bacon in multiple flavors and often has it on sale for about $5/lb.
